Why does nothing orbit in the EVE universe?

Planets, moons, stations are always in the same position year after year.

Nothing orbits in this universe.

Why?

Stations should orbit their planets.

Moons their planets.

Planets their suns.

Making travel in the EVE universe a variety of jump distances.

Why is an alarm clock going "off" when it actually turns on?

Why is an electrical outlet called an outlet when you plug things into it? Shouldn't it be called an inlet?

There's a million angry citizens looking down their tubes..at me.

Why is it called a BJ when there is no blowing involved?

As to the second question, that is because it the output for the electrical energy. Outlet.

As to the first I don't know, that's like the "taking a dump" question. You aren't taking it, you're leaving it there.

Basic orbits is too hard... Thus it was never implimented, and never will!

Because EVE runs on code, not physics.

Why are general problems less important than major ones, but Generals still outrank Majors?

I frequent the same stations, and they always look the same. Same distance from moon. Same lighting. Same jump distance.

Some variety to lend to the immersion would be nice.

And making bookmarks useless!

My dad was a sailor on the ocean. He knows all about the ocean. What he doesn't know is why he quit being a sailor and married my mom.

It would require a complete overhaul of the bookmarking system. Also, moving celestials, even if it were only during downtime, would create a immense load on the database.

That would be cool but the physics in Eve isn't even space-based and apparently they have nothing to fix the bookmarks (because this sort of question have been posted a long time ago on the forums) for such case.

Why do Majors outrank Lieutenants, but Lt. Generals outrank Major Generals?

Speaking of physics, ever play a game called "World Of Goo?"

Lots of challenging fun.

EVE is not a physics simulator.

If you need to scratch that itch, play this: http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/ (or the idiots version of it AKA Kerbal Space Program)

Unfortunately for my mates prostate this isn't always the case.

it's not really because it's not physics based, but mostly because of the processing power needed to plot every object in EVE, since the position of everything is relative to each other.

so, a system with 1 planet, 1 station, 1 belt and 1 stargate orbitting a sun.
each one of these objects "needs" to know the position of the other ones so that you can go from A to B.

if they're stuck in one place, you have a constant and that's easy. if they are moving tho....
