Any idea on when the POS' are going to be able to use fuel blocks?

Did you stop to read the devblog about POS Fuel Blocks before you posted this question? I know the answer, "no".

Moved to a more appropriate forum section.

Inability to place fuel blocks in the towers is a bug that will be fixed in the next few days. Speaking of fuel block consumption, this will be enabled at a later date (which will be announced beforehand so everyone has the time to add fuel blocks to their towers).

"At a later date......" Can you be any more vauge?

I really don't think that ccp grasp the implications of this lack of information.

For pos owners, they're going to have to convert 1/2 their fuel supply to these new blocks and then spend out to replace they 1/2 they've just converted to keep their stock up. I know it's not wasted as it will be used eventually, but not in the same ratios as they are now, so it could be months before things get back on track, over on robotics, under on LO & HW

C'mon CCP, you've obviously tested the mechanics Roll so give us a fixed date so we can at least know if we've got time to get the BPO's in for PE research or not.

I'm not converting anything until we get a fixed date, cos knowing my luck they'll abandon the whole crazy idea straight after I press the button to set the build jobs going.

The BPOS are cheap. PE and ME will only take 3 or 4 days to do. Plus with no PE research you can build 40,000 blocks in a little over 2 days at a component array at a POS. That will give you 3 weeks of fuel for a standard large tower.

Yes you will want ME research as some materials start out with 5% waste.

ME15 = no waste on anything except isotopes (and very little of that)
ME40 = "perfect", no waste

(as for these prints default waste is 5%)

ME40 takes just a few days to reseach, so if you already have prints in the oven, you'll get them out at ME40 before switchover.

I just hope they would announce the firm date soon and that it would be before the holidays because I'm fairly sure they can't do the switch during the holidays (~20th of dec until well into new year) and they have to give resonable advance warning (at least a week, probably two).

Why? So I can spend the holidays hunting out-of-fuel POSes for goodies, of course! Twisted

The safe bet is to only convert over 1/4 of your stockpiles to the new fuel pellets prior to the actual change-over. Or, if you have a very large stockpile, maybe you only convert over about 2-3 weeks worth into the new pellets.

Then, once the change-over actually occurs, switch another 1/4 of your stockpile over to the new fuel type. Wait a week, then switch the rest over.

(IMO, POS owners should always have about a 2-month supply of fuel stockpiled to deal with bumps in the market or events like Hulkageddons or jihads.)

If you had popped your BPOs in the oven on Wed/Thu, they'd be coming out of the lab array today or tomorrow at which point you can take a few hours (or a day) to make 1-2 weeks of pellets.

My 4 come out of ME40 tomorrow, and granted PE isn't as important, I'll probably put 2 of them in, and wait until they announce the date, build enough blocks, and then put the other 2 in.

It's just that "at a later date" is akin to "Soon™"
