So are we allowed to use these 60 day codes to make a new toon for ourselves or not?

I'm confused. Ugh

Yes, that is the same limitation as always with regards to paid accounts and trial accounts logged in on the same machine at the same time. That limitation has been there for years and will remain in place.

Then at best the statement is incorrect , and at worst it is a mis-representation or false advert.

So what about players who been here from 2003 and on?, what are you going to give your current players?

This is a slap in the face CCP, For the people who have multiple accounts?, seams you just dont care about the players, YOU (ccp) just want new players. Tell me (CCP) do new players pay the bills? What are YOU (CCP) going to do for player who pay (REAL MONEY?) I belive that MONEY pays for your company payroll.

Read " RAVING FANS" then maybe you will understand what a customer is...

Yes, you can.

But, that trial account can't be logged in alongside your normal paying account. That's the traditional paid/trial login restriction. They can be used separately, just not logged at the same time.

Yes, you can use a PLEX(or any other valid payment method) and upgrade this account a paying account with up to 90 days. [However many days left on the 60 days + 30 days {or however many you buy}].

I do not believe Steam CDKeys are a valid payment method, I believe valid methods are Credit Card, PLEX, Paypal, and Web Money. I will verify this tonight and post further here.

We've seen good response so far with people taking and sending keys, please keep feedback coming.

For current players, there are CA-1 and CA-2 implants, available now and shortly respectively. There is also a Christmas gift coming for all current customers.

There is also a "longevity" program in the works with Game Design and Customer Service. It's been a long time coming, I hope its what you are looking for.

Raving Fans is a good book, but really simplistic. We have 300,000+ people across a lot of localities and cultures. The three basic principles in the book are sound, but hard to apply across a diverse player base equally. That said, we're trying to move closer to a model like those principles. I think if you saw the way GM's and the Community Team are moving forward internally you'd be pleasantly surprised right now.

I guess I just don't understand the new program then. It seems inferior to the existing buddy program in every single way, other than for player's who actually have no plans to subscribe and simply want a throw-away 'trial only' account. With the buddy program I can invite a RL friend, give him a PLEX, and he gets 51 days to try the game at no cost to me, and no limitations on his game play.

My initial reaction was pretty much the same. However, to give someone 51 days without limitations you need to know person you giving this invite pretty well not to screw each other. These codes you can give to complete strangers. And as i've found out there is significant demand for them. So, after thinking some more about this promotion, my opinion is CCP actually came up with another good idea for EVE. And its not like old invite scheme is going out, more options to try EVE is better.

All very true, except you only get ONE singular code per account. So unless you're running multiple paid accounts you can't give codes to more than one singular random stranger. Which was sort of my point. If it's a one-time only deal, that can only be redeemed this month... why all the other account limitations?

If CCP released this as a one-time only super buddy program offer, that'd make sense. But a one-time only offer thats only better than the existing program with a total stranger you don't know... but only one stranger... seems a bit off.

Obviously CCP will come back in a month or two and say it was a rousing success and they'll make it permanent and you can issue ten vouchers per month like the buddy program, but right now it just seems a trifle silly.

As the only person in eve with one account I have some questions. :)

Can I upgrade the trial with the power of 2 deal after the 60 day trial ?

Edit - After posting this question I have read back a bit and now I am confused.
Can I use this code to make an alt ?
Why can't the trial be logged on at the same time as my paying account ?

If all is cool and I do make an alt - do the 60days if unused add to the subscription time - So if I got 6 month sub would I have the toon for 8 months?

Thanks

Clear Communication has never been CCP's forte , just about every statement ever released by them has some degree of ambiguity and it's normally intentional. If nobody understands what your saying there's plenty of room to edit later.

Say what you mean and mean what you say.

Oh and THANKS CCP. GREAT GIFT. I LOVE IT.

Surprised to hear so many people complaining about a free gift.

QUESTION THOUGH:

OutCast EG wrote:
In voucher center it says Expires 12/24/2011,
and in the devblog and in "link" section it says: These codes must be redeemed and used by January 24th

Which one is it?

I have the same Question. Is it January 24th 2012, or December 24th 2011? There is a very big and practical difference here.

This is important can we get some CCP input on when this present actually expires.

*** EDIT ADDED HERE ***

I presume the code must be claimed by December 24th and used by Jan 24th 2012, is this correct?

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. The paid account must claim the one time 60 day code key by Dec 24th and a new account must activate it by Jan 24th to receive the 60 day trial.

I think this is a great idea, allows a new player to experience the various different aspects of Eve without having to rush into buying an account and then later realizing that the game isn't for them. Sure there will be restrictions but if they spend the time engaging in the various career options available, one of those will more than likely inspire them to subscribe.

so... much... bitter....

The people that have multiple accounts have lost nothing.

Did you miss the latest expansion where they fixed a ****ton of issues that were awful for vets and people with multiple accounts?

Grow a pair. Roll

A war that would’ve involved 20,000 players, 75% of nullsec space, and hundreds of supercapitals was halted not by diplomacy, but by a game mechanic so dreadful that those who have experienced it previously have no desire to do so again. - Fix POS & SOV

Was that agent in Amarr or Gallente space?

Also, was it a civilian laser?

I gave 3 codes to my friends ... also had to buy each a PLEX =/ Now I'm also stuck in teaching them. I wonder if it was a good choice to begin with. :D

I feel the same way. The only way I can get anyone to begin to start to understand EVE is if they are sitting next to me watching me play. The tutorial scares most people away that I know.

Would you guys be okay with removing the activation deadline so we can just claim this by the 24th or whatever and have in our possession a "use anytime" key that we can give someone in the future? I have to agree with a few others that I'd love to try and get someone interested in Eve, but it's not happening by the end of January and if I had this in my toolbox next summer when everyone's bored with Skyrim it would be pretty useful.
