I am a cancer patient. I am currently cancer free in remission. While I was in the hospital undergoing multiple operations this past year my Corp CEO kept tabs on me and called me on my cell frequently. Whilst I was on morphine drip and delirious he would want to chat it up, and this really helped to cheer me up. I don't recall most of the conversations, but I am fairly sure they were foot loose and fancy free on my part...

I just wanted to point out to the rest of New Eden that there was a CEO who actually cared, and it actually mattered to me IRL. We've since parted ways in Eve, but thanks to him I've had the audacity to return to Eve...yet again.

This man made a difference to me in game, and in real life.

I think an o7 is order for Proteus Ormande of The Longshot Brigade former CEO of The Tall Order. This man stands head and shoulders above all others as far as I'm concerned for his dedication to Corp, members, and friendships.

Thank you Prot! Call me anytime =)

I'm more interested in how it came to pass that your CEO even got your phone number without already being a close enough friend to warrant it.

I'm pretty sure he obtained it through nefarious means. He's quite the flim flam man and perhaps I should barricade my door now before something truly serious happens to me.

I have removed a rule breaking post and those quoting it..

The Rules:
4. Personal attacks are prohibited.

Commonly known as flaming, personal attacks are posts that are designed to personally berate or insult another forum user. Posts of this nature are not beneficial to the community spirit that CCP promote and as such they will not be tolerated.

That said, \o/ for the OP for pulling through in the fight against that terrible disease and a sincere o7 to the CEO in question.
Good job, both of you!

I've lost my Mother and Grandfather to it. It seems that I have a genetic predisposition to it. I am currently participating in genetic counseling, where they take my family history, along with genetic blood testing, to help determine if any other family members are at risk. My daughter has the most to gain from this technology, and we are currently awaiting further tests to determine if she has genetic markers that put her at risk. Hopefully soon we can all rest at ease with a cure.

I am so sorry you lost your Dad.

Similar story from the other perspective. Had an ex corpie become aflicted. While I cannot claim to have nearly as much involvement as the CEO above, mainly facebook chats and such, I am pleased to announce that this former corpie may be returning to eve.

So kudos to those who work to fight cancer, with every passing year we seem to push it back that little bit more

if it helps, it seems that there's research under way on how you getting a very strong shot of measles vaccine can help on curing cancer, specifically myeloma.

results are promising.

it was a 50/50 chance tho. 2 people underwent trials, and only one managed to enter into remission. It doesn't get all kinds of myeloma, but even in the one that failed, the tumours decreased in size before they regenerated.

so, there is hope.

That is an amazing read, and thanks for the link. It does seem technology is catching up with cancer, and we can only hope that before long there is a cure.
