Afternoon folks. Been out of pod for the better part of 5 years (Orcas were "the new thing" shortly before I left). I've taken some time to see what's changed and it's a lot to digest.

1. NO MORE TIERS! Praise be to whatever deities capsuleers pray to. I always hated how lower-tiered ships were inferior, even when they filled different roles (Caracal/Moa, Vexor/Thorax, etc.).
2. Stuff costs more. Well, I guess when you buff lower-tiered items, there had to be a price.
3. Ship skills changed. Racial Destroyer/Battlecruiser, cap ship changes (no more BS V!), etc.
4. Some bonuses make way more sense now. (Geddon/Apoc have different roles, Domi is king of sentries, Thorax has a tracking bonus, etc.)
5. Missiles still suck and missions are still boring. (Thankfully, I use a Sentry Domi, so I don't suffer both at once.)
6. INTERCEPTORS ARE IMMUNE TO BUBBLES?!?!?!?
7. T1 logistics ships? Yes please!
8. T1 gangs seem like they'd be surprisingly effective now.
9. New BCs and Destroyers. I kinda wish the new destroyers had gone the "oversized gun" route like the BCs, but the "drone/missile boat vs. gun boat" makes sense too.
10. Marauder + Bastion Module + Micro Jump Drives = mini dread. Seriously, has anyone started using these for hisec POS busting yet?

I'm sure there's some other things in there I missed, but from a ships standpoint I think that's the bulk of it. Did I miss anything?

This is a refreshing twist on the classic "tell me what I missed" the guy actually did his own research. \o/

Indys and Barges have also been "buffed", freighters are about to be "buffed"

Oh yes! I do like how they shuffled up the haulers and mining barges. No more "how many versions of an Iteron can you have" and utterly craptastic Procurers or completely redundant Covetors.

I gotta go try a battle Nereus at some point. Twisted

It seems the common theme with all these changes is that more ships have a better defined (and actually useful) role now. I like that. +1 CCP

Pirate faction ships are also about to be completely rebalanced. Head over to the Features and Ideas forum to check it out.

I would be highly amused by a summary page with bullet points highlighting changes since your account went inactive. I only missed the winter update and still would have appreciated some help in itemizing what was new.

Command ships are no longer separated into different roles like the old "field" and "fleet" command ships. They can now both do links or pure combat. One of each race even have a new model and skin similar to their tech 1 counterpart. For example, the new Eos has the same model but little different skin of the myrmidon. For combat performance though, they still aren't that much better than tech 3 cruisers.

Armor repairers were buffed.

So Nighthawks look like Drakes instead of Feroxes now?

WIN!

(That bit about all CSs getting equal link bonuses is cool too....)

Also the ancillary shield and armor reps (along with rapid launchers) have made burst tanking and front load damage another layer to pvp weighted to the smaller end.

missiles are actually in a decent state right now. torps are a little on the weak side but all other versions have at least some uses.

also, insead of using marauders for hisec pos bashing, you can just use cheap drone cruisers. a vexor navy with a set of heavies will do a very nice job without ammo consumption or reloading and if you lose it, meh, 100m.

I should buy an Ishtar.

I definitely see the cost benefit there, but given that Marauders really are turning into mini-dreads, I was just wondering if people with too much ISK to burn had started using them. I bashed a few POSes in my day with RR Sentry Domis. Good times.

Which reminds me: drone damage mods? Hell yes!
