Now firstly om not a new player or am i new to PvP , however i rarely run solo , however with a decline in my corps numbers and a few of my running buddies going off to try other games I'm starting to find myself in solo situation more and more often.

So I've got a pretty simple question , What is your preferred ship and fit for running around solo in low sec / 0.0 , can fly pretty much anything sub titan and be cost effective to the point I'm not going to feel like ive been kicked in the nuts every time i lose 1

Any help , info , fittings and videos etc would be very much appreciated

Nano Talos works pretty damn well, High DPS, relatively good escape for those sticky situations and pretty cost effective really. I would also suggest looking into maybe fitting out a wolf or enyo for a cheap thrill, Fun little ships to take out solo but you do have to be selective with your targets and/or experienced in splitting groups on field and taking out individuals quickly

Best solo ships I would have to say are:

Nomen Korvix fitting
Rail rax
Navy Vexor
Shield Zealot
Shield Ishtar
Fed Web Vagabond (Looking for fast tackle kills / T1 cruisers)
Rail Diemos / Shield Blaster Diemos
LML SAAR Heretic
Sentinel
Navy Aug

Anything above Cruiser level is just far too slow for solo. ABC's are in a pretty bad place right now. Unless you are flying an oracle / tornado in a small gang / fleet. Certainly not solo. The days of the nano talos are long gone.

If you are interesting in fittings for any of the above, just let me know and I can shoot you something.

I support much of what Chessur says, however, I must argue a few, particularly the Rail Deimos and shield Blaster Deimos. The Railmos, while an exceptional ship when paired with a Navy Omen, simply cannot deal with fast tackle in any reasonable way when flown solo, hence why it is flown in tandem with an anti-support ship such as a Nomen. I argue the shield Blaster Deimos because I know Chessur refers to a nano fit with TEs and using null for kiting. While that practice used to work exceptionally well, it falls short since the horrible TE nerf, and again has a hard time dealing with tackle, unless you fit a web which requires sacrificing a large portion of your potential tank. If, however, you are to use the shield Blaster Deimos as a scram-range kiter, it can work reasonably well, although at that point you may wish to use a cheaper Thorax, as you are fully committing to the fight.

Besides that, all of the options posted above are very viable solo-nano ships (except the T3 BCs). If you wish to brawl, well that is a trial by fire to find out what works best for you.

I wear my goggles at night.

Any spelling/grammatical errors come complimentary with my typing on a phone

Frigs are fun to fly in LowSec! I especially like to solo hunt FW LowSec - there is an art to it and you always have to keep your wits about you. Im not gonna run a clinic on it in this post. Just fit a stack of frigs and go have fun in them. After you die a few times you will learn what corps/players/systems to avoid (probable links etc). If you can master it though it is fun and provides some great PVP opportunity! If you fly around enough and pay attention you will find your share of true 1v1 fights! Also, many corps will honor 1v1 requests. So dont be afraid to ask for a fight!

My favorite frigs for solo LowSec hunting are:
Breacher - shield boosting brawler tanks amazingly well and is constantly underestimated in PVP - I have a couple great fits hit me up if you want one
Autocannon Thrasher - shield tank it and melt the face of anything you can get ahold of
EWAR Firetail - scram range kiter tracking/range disruptor fit

Any of those ships are relatively cheap and give you great bang for the ISK invested. Have fun!

For cruisers I like the Scythe Fleet Issue. Active shield fit with dual 180acs, drones and full tackle. It is a formidable cruiser if flown correctly. Great speed, tank and DPS! Mine has over 50kEHP with great resists, 500ish DPS and the speed of a frigate.

Thanks for the input guys , ive flown the Nomen a few times with some success , but also a few screw up's when ive not been able to pull range and get out to kite , i did love the cynabal till the vaga buff kinda made it redundant ,

Im hoping that with the up coming changes to the faction ships that it will mix things up again and bring some other the less used ships back in to play

but it does seem that ive been using the right boats which is good to know Smile

Vaga is 110% better than the cynabal in every way.

After the kronos buff, Orthrus and Phantasm are giong to be gods. Ahsimmu might be workable, and the machriel will again be good!

PS. Phantasm, Nightmare, Orthrus, Berghest are going to be so OP. Looking forward to having some fun!

Since we're here, what's the BEST frigate solo ship? Rolling around in any cruiser in FW space is guaranteed blueballs and/or blobbed to death in a gatecamp.

"The best" as in "unbeatable in a 1v1 against another frig" or as in "good against a group of other frigs/cruisers/dessis" or as in "garanteed to get you fair fights" or as in "guaranteed to get you a lot of kills"?

Slicer, 10Mn AB Slicer, 10MN AB Hawk, Arty Wolf, Rail devil, Web kiting Retribution, LML Condor, LML Crow, Sentinel All are pretty viable.

How true it is that solo cruiser roaming = certain death in low sec!

Frigates are where its at in low. I personally love the Firetail for this. I prefer an autocannon fit with a small neut to round out the highs. I fit mids with AB, scram and web and a tracking disruptor (carry range and tracking disrupt scripts). Then I round out the lows with a DC2, AAR and adaptive. Rig for anti expl damage and armor repair amount.

I have not flown this as much as I would like as I recently plugged in a high grade slave set and thus do not fly much outside of WH space anymore. However, this ship is a great scram range kiting brawler. Tackle and disrupt your opponent while staying at approximately 6000-7000m. Win!

It's a lot easier to find targets than it is to find targets that you can kill before the blob arrives.

Sidenote: Sentinel is the #1 ship to fly if your idea of solo PvP is watching people warp out the second you show up on short scan.

The last 2. Rolling in a hawk and sentinel will guarantee me a blueballed roam so I don't use those. What I'm looking for is those that are good but not a ROFLSOLOPWNMOBILE that people will run away in their t1/faction frigs.

decent - Terrible - Terrible - decent - borderline-op - whut? - good - borderline-op - HATE

I'd say go for a scram kiter to start of with. Rail comet, tristan, incursus, firetail, tormentor can all do it pretty decently.

(Don't fly a sentinel, only fights you will get are people who have your number or idiots.)
