Hi

Perhaps now that Eve iterations are going to become more frequent wouldn't having an automatic client update agent or something to that effect be a good idea?

E.g. After a long day at work you just want to play, not still have to wait for the client to download and install updates..

Cheers

lolwat?

What's stopping you from DLing some software to control your home PC from your workdesk or mobile phone so you can just start the update process during work hours?

Stupidity should be a bannable offense.

Fighting back is more fun than not.

one option:

set up a scheduled job to start the launcher, say, an hour before you'd get home.

Does making a batch file that opens the launcher every day after DT work? Of course that entails leaving the computer on.

Post with your NPC alt main and not your main main alt!

Freeserve is still in operation?

I wouldn't be so quick to ask for that kind of functionality when they've had updates in the past wreck operating systems. I agree it might be a handy timesaver, but sometimes having it automatically grab the update right away isn't the best thing.

Its not a terrible idea. But CCP doesn't need to implement such a thing. You can on your own. Since DT happens while I'm asleep, I just start the launcher before work.*

* since I work from home, then I also login and try to kill my enemies.. but don't tell my boss.

you all missing the point, the idea was so that its unobtrusive much like windows updates, steam updates not to mention how the ps4 updates...anyway...meh.

You find a way to pull a 500mb file in an "unobtrusive" fashion that doesn't involve someone running a fiber line into my basement, please let me know.

Tell me again about how every playstyle you dont engage in "doesn't require any effort" and everyone who does it needs to die in a fire. Be sure to mention about how you tried it once but it was too easy/boring/ethnic-homophobic slur.

All the updates have direct links. I'm not smart enough to figure them out but my TESTbros in Jabber always figure it out and give a link if I ask. I think you should be able to figure it out pretty easily using wireshark and then 'curl' the file.

So do this:
-Remote into your machine. start launcher
-Get the link
-Download it to a USB stick wherever the faster connection is
-Go home and patch it, then play

Get in from work
Turn on computer
Start Launcher
Get changed
Have shower
Have coffee
Play eve

Unless you are using cup and string internet that should be sufficient

Maybe CCP would consider doing a 24 to 48 hour pre-release of patches, which is then applied when the servers are changed. The download time is completely buried.
