When you choose to add someone to your contacts list, there's a text box below the standings. Originally, I'd always assumed this was to make some note for yourself regarding why you added the person, and I thought I'd be able to see it on the notes tab of the chacter's info. However, I checked recently, and there's no information in the notes field on people I've attached notes to. So what then is that text field beneath the standings for, and how do you see what you've input later on?

people who have posted here are right, it's for you to send (nice) a message to the person you're adding as a contact

It is? I thought it was for writing notes about the contact

I was wardecced once and the wardeccers were upset I didn't use trade hubs or do stuff that made me vulnerable more often, which apparently means I'm a coward. Once the war ended with no kills, I got set to terrible standing with some message to the effect of being a cowardly awful person. They really should have done their homework.

This is a problem for corps and alliances who would like to have a "group memory" about why a contact was added, and who added it. I would like to have an in-game audit log of contacts additions / changes (and who did it.)

Right now, we have to keep separate notes, or send mails, about contacts standings changes.

PLEASE give us a way to do this right!

It's not that I write any mean thing about people. It's just that some of the things doesn't make sense at all to other people.

Along with a way to add corp/alliance "notes" on people, this would be amazing.

"Why is this guy red?" "Uh... is his corp red?" "No, wtf?" "Maybe he was a cyno alt? Or someone we were tracking down?" "I dunno."

Oh yeah... I meant to ask you what "Mizhir has added you as a contact with neutral standings: Utter D-bag.. KOS and link anime_squid_girl.gif in local" meant.

That is way less useful than being able to jot down my notes when I add them in the first place.

I'm still left wondering, however, if they still receive the note if I did not check the box to send them a message. I'm hoping not, but it seems odd I'd even be able to type in the field if it's not going to be sent.

Why can't we have an in game mechanic that allows me to easily remember details via notes I've typed for each contact? I put someone red but was it because he was a ganker or I wanted him dead? I put someone blue but I can't remember why. etc etc

Honestly this feature is very unintuitive. Many if not most people assume that it's for setting notes, which means that the interface needs to be improved.

For that matter, why can't we set notes on corporations and alliances? And corporation and alliance notes on entities? These features would get a lot of use.

So... the tab headed "notes" aint intuitive enough, eh?

That's more clicky then it needs to be. Or lets say at an alliance level or corp level, and I have had this, someone sets someone blue or red, or I had someone set to blue and a director later changed it to red. There should be an easy way to mouse over or glance and get a 'xxx changed to red, reason: he started shooting us while blue" or whatever. Having to go 'why the hell did I set this guy blue? *right click, show info, notes tab* is annoying, not to mention if I was in a hurry and forgot to add a note on a separate sheet that I have no info. A simple "set standing, +10, +5, 0, -5, -10, add to watch list? Note to user: Reason for standing:" would be easier. Then I just mouse over or right click the standing and edit it and boom there is a damn note that I can see.

and I might add that finding out who set the standing, or who changed the standing, so I can ask them why the person is whatever, is hard as hades to find. I used to be able to dig through the audit logs to find it. It should all be in one simple area.

Who set, standing, why
who changed, standing, why.

simple.
