i had this happen 1 time for me. and it was my fleet window that vanished ( no i didn't close it out) had to relog and rejoin fleet to get it back.

windows7 64 (patch's up to date)
AMD Phenom II 1100T 6 core
2 Radeon HD 6770's in Crossfire (11.11 drivers)
8 gig of ram

Things I went through :
- cleared cache (via ESC)
- disabled "Resource Cache Enabled"
- fullscreen : interval 3
-Nvidia 7300GT (128MB), driver 280.26

Disappearing windows still happens (with Alt-Tab) BUT their persistence seems to be less fatal.
Where previously you had no choice but to kill the client, now you can just do multiple Alt-Tab to attempt to fix it.

One other issue that's possibly related is the intermittent game freezes (lasting from 5-20secs) which happens just about anywhere you go. FPS drops to almost zero during these events. In some cases, if freeze time > 1min, the system crashes with BSOD nv4 display driver not responding/or looping.

Frequency for that has increased since the Crucible patch, but it was first seen with Incarna (which didn't really warrant raising the issue).

Have anyone else encountered these freezing episodes?

CCP this needs to be priority 1. I can't even play the game at a time when I want to try all the new features. I also have a plex I need to buy in a week and a half and I haven't been able to rat since patch day. This is a very serious issue.

True, There goes my gametime, Risky to play in nullsec, in case UI may be unusable after any gatejump.

I have found that if you operate in windowed mode the problem doesn't arise - well at least that's what I have found after two hours playing in windowed mode this evening. It might be a work around until CCP finds the problem.

I am mistaken on one issue - the ship not floating or spinning in the hangar - this happens when "load station environment" is unchecked. Thanks, Shpenat, for pointing this out to me. Now if we can just get the UI & windows to stay put.....

Yes. I cant afford to go into nulsec. When this bug hits at a gate you are helpless.
Tooling around highsec for a couple of days wasnt bad, but now its just me stuck with nothing to do.

the issue even happens when alt tabbing out of the game, with out a single client running.

If you hit tab twice, the windows appear but minimized, you can double click on them to maximize them, but then the ui eventually disappears and you have to alt tab out again to reset it.

II loose my window when I open my e-mail or alt tab. I am running a single client and have disabled all background programs. This issue is making the game almost unplayable.

Ok slightly diffrent report of similar issues here.

First experienced GUI loss using 'EVE launcher' to run 4 clients.

After starting clients manually and 'windows' keying back to desktop to change clients the GUI problem seemed resolved.

BUT the clients run like snails. Even with graphics turned to mininum I suffer horendous control lag and dire FPS.

According to Task manager my processor isn't overtaxed though my commit charge looks unusually high.

Conclusion is I'd imagine the problem is some sort of memory problem running the new graphics under DX 9

/edit for update - Now something I have just learned in another thread is that you can run multiple instances of the game from 1 client installation, IIRC that wasn't possible when I used to play some 3 years ago, and I have my rig set up with 4 seperate installations of the client. Perhaps this is relevant as maybe the problem is confined to one type of multi user and not the other .

First of all, thank you very much Mahon.

Second, Confirming this is a workaround. Problem is while in fullscreen mode. Single client though, don't want to push it.

GL with the fix.!

Further update - while running multiple instances of 1 client my lagging problem resolved and I was able to restore my graphics settings although the dissapearing GUI problem returned.

/edit further thoughts on my previous conclusion of your new graphic resources causing memory issues, another possible problem might lie in the way your new UI scaling script handles updating the screen.

Windows XP user here as well confirming the same problem with disappearing UIs. I made another post about this problem as well.

I've tried running the repair tool, defragging and just about everything I can think of short of completely uninstalling the client and reloading it (and I am not sure that would even fix the problem.)

Didn't read the whole trade, but a corpmate had that problem, also on XP.

I told him to change Full Screen by Fixed Window (with the same resolution).

Since then, he didn't have the problem again.

If it's can help ...

Im getting the same problems and im running XP as well

But im getting it while using the probing map, all my open windows bug out and go away when clicking the map/moving it and requires i open and shut the map or tab out and back in a few times to fix.

All automated intel should be removed from the game including Instant local/jumps/kills/cynos for all systems/regions.Eve should report nothing like this to the client/3rd party software.Intel should not be force fed to players. Player skill and iniative should be the sources of intel.

An additional thought may be an under-the-hood rendering of many, many ui elements exhausting resources. I keep my people and places open 100% of the time and have hundreds of bookmarks on each character. I frequently open my notepad and have many notes, a good handful of which are at max length. I keep at least 7 chat channels open all docked into the same window. Local is pulled out into a seperate window. Cargo is frequently open as well as the dscanner. Make sure the QA team is using multiple clients that are heavily loaded like this.

A misnomer present in this thread is that "windows disappear". In reality it is ui elements that disappear, and its frequently the window frame itself (i don't know your architecture - just translating into a familiar paradigm). Sometimes its just some window backgrounds that don't render, other times its select line items in a list.

Blowing the cobwebs off of some old UI development/debugging experience eons ago, and watching the behavior of this issue, reminds me of and leads me to believe that you are silently suppressing resource allocation/rendering problems.

Hope this helps!! :D And I was going to report that ctrl-alt-w helps when this happens. All windows get minimized and your neocom returns, if it was lost. Then you can restore critical windows one by one such as your overview and/or people and places so you can warp to safety. But I saw someone mention tab-tab a bit earlier and i had forgotten that trick. I'll be trying that in addition to playing in windowed mode tonight.

Thank you all.

p.s. oh, but ctrl-alt-w causes you to lose all but your system chat channels - a bit of a pain to keep opening them back up. Is that normal? Should that be normal?
