Raptor : where does it shine ?

I've given some thought to the new Raptor and I have to say I have trouble making a viable ship out of it.
Considering its bonuses, I think it would be best to go for some shield buffer and railguns but a MSE have a big impact on available powergrid and only leaves 1 slot for Tackling.
Without MSE you can fit a rack of 125mm, without bonus to tracking though you don't want to get caught at very close range.

SeemsI can't make anything good from this ship, do you guys have any suggestions ?

[Rubicon Raptor, New Setup 1]
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
Internal Force Field Array I

Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
Faint Epsilon Warp Scrambler I
1MN Afterburner II

Light Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Ion Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Prototype 'Arbalest' Light Missile Launcher, Caldari Navy Scourge Light Missile

Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I

225 DPS heated

You can also make a Blaster kiting setup- and use null, keeping at the edge of scram range.

Edit: Yes, I meant Null kiting- not void kiting lol

You probably meant null instead of void.

Raptor has an optimal range. I think 150's should be good with it. Something like:

[Raptor, Velociraptor]
Fourier Transform Tracking Program
Micro Auxiliary Power Core II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
Faint Warp Disruptor I
Medium Ancillary Shield Booster, Cap Booster 50

150mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Plutonium Charge S
150mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Plutonium Charge S
150mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Plutonium Charge S
[empty high slot]

Small Hybrid Burst Aerator I
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I

does around 100+ dps to 20k, is fast and has around 4.5k EHP total with one magazine of MASB.

You could probably do similar thing better with an atron or taranis though.

I don't have EFT but it looks like for blasters you might as well use a Taranis don't you?

there's a reason most people call it the craptor, guess what that reason is :P. taranis is almost always superior, the fits posted above are pretty much the best you're going to get out of this ship

Figured that CCP (Frozzie ? ) must have had some idea about what to do with when he rebalanced the 'ceptors and made it a combat inty.
That or he really wanted to make the Crow king of the hill.

[Raptor, supsup]

Micro Auxiliary Power Core II
Tracking Enhancer II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
Medium Azeotropic Ward Salubrity I
Warp Disruptor II

150mm Railgun II, Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S
150mm Railgun II, Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S
150mm Railgun II, Federation Navy Antimatter Charge S
[Empty High slot]

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Hybrid Collision Accelerator I

(with a 1%-PG imp for 650k ISK)

Wouldn't use use a raptor without MSE ever. Whoever says *go all speed, no tank* has obviously not the faintest idea on what he's doing.

There is normally quite a glow from the engine exhaust ports.

It makes a great little shuttle. Higher warp speed than a normal shuttle, and cheaper than a Leopard.

You clearly meant Spike S for ammo.

I like it, rail-kite and you'll propably like it too.

Eve Minions is recruiting.

Raptor has a 50% optimal bonus. With a TE it gets an optimal of 15 and a falloffof 9km, which is kinda ok for kiting. I'd prefer using plutionium though. 19+9

Orbit-15k with MWD on will have you orbit the target at some 21-22k @3.5-3.7km/s, which is just what you need to make coffee, answer some mails and crawl your balls before you check if you poked it to death already.

A rail-fit Raptor is basically a Crow that has to worry about tracking at 4km/sec (don't do it).

Try applying your LML dps to a fast moving intie, even precisions won't help you much.

It's a tackling inteceptor, not a space superiority interceptor. You want space superiority, there are 4 other ships in the same class that you can use.

Grow a pair then. B-ships are pretty much the type of ships where you need to consider them lost in every engagement. This is the mentality you need to have when you fly a friggin' glass cannon that is a blaster ship. If you manage to get this, you'll soon know that nothing in your hull size can survive your guns.

That is if you manage to survive the approach, but then again, this is what makes them a hella lotta fun to fiy, going in a ship that fights at spit range.

The joke is that it is a space superiority interceptor now.
Same than a Taranis.

Why would I want to fly the crappy Raptor when the fancy Taranis seems to be doing everything better...

Fun fact, it's the CROW that has the point range bonus, not the Raptor.
