I dont know which you are more wrong about;

That WoW had some sort of balance

Or that in EvE, your items and SP are more important that what you know (and by extension can quickly learn).

Join red vs blue or faction warfare, they are the best places to go to learn the basics and get into fleets easily.

What was it about Warsong that successfully GOT me to PVP and how can that be applied here?

It can't be applied here. PvP in WoW revolves around dying and respawning over and over until you start getting better gear and learn strategies to counter every class.

This is very different from the WoW PvP I remember.
Getting into WSG to come across players who you almost couldn't hurt, while they killed you within a few seconds, due to their superior gear, and only after long and tedious grind you could slowly catch up getting your own pvp gear.

In Eve, I as newbie am clearly at a disadvantage when I meet someone with better skills and maybe more expensive modules if they are in a similar ship than me. When I go up against a Daredevil in my blaster Merlin or something like that.
But in Eve, if I am smart and pay attention, I most of the time don't have to take those fights. It's a game of cat and mouse, and the short time I've spent in low sec before joining my current corp I didn't kill anything and was killed a few times, but I had tons of fun getting away from people who wanted to kill me.
And the fights I lost weren't that one-sided, despite my opponents, if I remember right, having years older characters than I had.

How would it be different from being owned going into WSG because you don't know what's going on yet?

In EVE a savvy young pilot who understands game mechanics can embarass a veteran while using a worse ship and having less SP.

The PVP in EVE blows other games out of the water because of this. It's a great blend of cunning, strategy and an understanding of the mechanics in play.

I don't know about this WoW server but I've found nearly all other PVP experiences are too reliant on understanding game mechanics and don't rely enough on player ingenuity. EVE does and that is why it's the best game ever despite barely being an actual good game.

You can also outsmart people in WoW and kill them while having inferior gear or, in world/open pvp, get away from them. Difference may be, that when you go into Warsiong Gulch (or any Battleground) in WoW you go there with the mindset to participate in PVP.
In EVE it may be smart to always expect PVP but we all know that most people don't or don't want to PVP at all.

I can see what you see not - vision milky then eyes rot. When you turn they will be gone - whispering their hidden song.

Both this statement and the diameteric opposite are incorrect

Maybe it's an explanation why he doesn't like Eve? I'm not sure.

Dunno

But Ill say this

Alterac Valley was best Battleground imho.

Owwwwwwwwwww. Dammit.

Well it was, when it was a 12 hour back and forth, not running up to the end and whoever gets to the last boss first wins as its been for years. The death of proper pvp in wow is one of the many reasons I stopped playing it as my fantasy mmo

Virtually everybody that plays Eve PvPs in one form or another, even if they believe otherwise.

But I thought from from all the postings I've read on these forums that "real" PvP only exist in 1 v1 ships shooting each other.

I started playing MMO's with EQ and have probably played 75% of them. As a rule I never ever ever PVP...except one time.

I really liked Warsong Gulch in WoW. Why is that? I hate open world PVP, I despise ganking, I'm the biggest carebear in like ever but for some reason I couldn't tear myself away from Warsong.

Why? I'm not sure. But for me, that REALLY worked.

Not really that mysterious and you answered your own question. You're a great big pansy-ish carebear and WoW battlegrounds were completely free of any kind of risk or loss.

Complete opposite to the OP: Eve was my first MMO, but I've played a few since and always PVP'd. To the point being in mixed guilds or clans is a pain if they are constantly nagging for raiders. Think I raided twice, and despite the storyline sections being really impressive, I just found it mechanical and boring. Like any good Eve player having nothing but contempt for people obsessed with gear doesn't translate into other games well :P

I never really got into the warzones in WoW, but Huttball in SWTOR was awesome. Until you reach the level cap and it turns into a gear grind nerd-fest. Seriously, some of the PVP guilds in SWTOR put Eve-corps to shame in terms of how anal they are.

wrong.

In EVE, the fact that you pressed the login button means that you have consented into pvp.

and no, in EVE, pvp is not just shoving an antimatter slug into someone's asstailpipe. In EVE, pvp is about who sells said antimatter to someone, who produces said antimatter to someone and who mines to produce that antimatter slug. Pretty much everything in EVE is a competition, and that competition spawns into pvp, strong prevail, weak perish and all that.

If any, the only thing that you can't pvp is ship spinning, but CCP added a shipspin count so you can compete with someone about who does the most ship spinning.

so yeah, don't want to pvp? don't login. in fact GB2WoW?

Sooo...can I have your stuff?

I mean, this is clrearly not the game for you, and now that you've ID'd yourself as the world's biggest carebear, you have also become a high "Gank for lulz" target. You will end up ragequitting this game anyway, so.....can I have your stuff?

This is as nice as I get. Best quote ever https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=4137165#post4137165

World PvP in WoW used to be fun before Blizzard decided to kill it off in favour of having 50+ guys stood around an NPC to pop in and out of PvP instances all day.

EVE is on a completely different, and much, much higher level.
