loot can change not convenient

now when you click the loot button, you auto fly over to it if you are currently out of range. this may benefit some, but when managing a lot of loot all at once this is very interfering. i would like to see the "open cargo" button grayd out when it is out of range, just like before the update. if people are utilizing the fly to then open can, then create a different option for this. maximizing a salvage run its helpful to catch the moment the can is in range, without my ship altering course to do so.

just my opinion. anyone agree/disagree?

Yeah, I kinda preferred the old functionality. That button makes you approach the can if you can't open it. My AF approaching a can while under fire and stopping (instead of orbiting it like I prefer to) can be a significant issue.

its extremely inconvenient. i dont think i will get used to it whenever i am trying to manage more than a couple of wrecks (which is most of the time).

ccp, can you please return the loot can button to being greyed out when it is out of range. most every one uses tractor beams which makes the change you made almost pointless..

or make it an option that you can activate, rather than forced on us.

I just started before the update, and i do alot of salvage for my buddy here while my skills are getting better. and agree that it can disrupt the pattern i have to opening the cans. maybe they should create a different button for the approaching first option.Smile

What is one of the EVE adages I am looking for?

Fly what you can afford to loose. - Nope

Trust No One. - Nope

Every action is the consequences of your choice. - Nope

Adapt or Die. - Ah, there it is.

Don't fly towards a can while under fire, wait until everything is dead. If you want to open cans while being shot at, Ye olde tractorbeam solves the issue of bringing wreck towards you, once its around 500m just double click on your overview and it opens even while you are putzing away from it.

right, your example justifies my thread perfectly... there is little to no reason to "fly towards wreck or can" use your tractor beam. When the "open can" button was greyed out, and then highlighted when it came in range, that allowed a salvager precision when engaged in combat. to misjudge the distance and have your current path redirected to a can 2600 meters away, is highly inconvenient. This change does not speed up the process of looting and salvaging, but rather slows it down in most situations.
now i understand you are saying wait till its fully tractered in and you would not make mistakes. but I am saying that the change was maybe 10% usefull. only a noob is going to sit there and fly toward a wreck for every wreck they want to either loot or salvage. is that the catagory you fit in? (or do you prefer greifer?)

saying to not 'fly towards a can while under fire' is exactly what i am trying to say. I dont want to fly towards the can period!.. I can understand how this helps minorly in an occassional situation, but are you seriously going to argue that it is a better mechanic?

If anything, I think this should be a setting in the options menu. allow the user to define if they want their ship to react to the button (ie. go to object and open contents), or if they would prefer it disabled.

I would like to see the old functionality. I do not wish to fly to the wreck, when I click the "OPEN THAT THING" button. Automatic approch is absolute NOT wished nor requested. Delete this function as soon as possible.

It is frustrating, when you flight aligned and want to loot the nearby wreck or can; but the ship is out of range and makes a turnaround. -.-
