Since duels were introduced, what now is the purpose of being able to shoot corp members besides to awox. If this is the only purpose then why hasn't this ability been removed?

"what now is the purpose of being able to shoot corp members besides to awox." Huh, maybe the whole awoxing part? I mean CCP does support that sort of behavior.

Also useful for holding a corp member in place if they disconnect while on roam or something.

Corp PvP tournaments, I'm not overly familiar with the duelling mechanic but I seriously doubt that it easily allows multiple combatants (as in more than 2) to engage each other at will.

edited to reflect the post below

Well, I believe it's possible, but you'll be going downtime to downtime just accepting everything.

There is nothing wrong with the mechanic. Recruiting people has consequences, as well it should. Trust is a valuable commodity.

You can learn a lot about operational security from being AWOXed.

A good corporation will let it happen at most once, and will adjust.

A bad one will die, which is a good thing for the game.

Oh look how touchy some of you are on the subject. Nice.

I simply asked what other purpose does it serve, and the best that someone can come up with is to hold your corp mate in place if they disconnect? So instead of them e-warping and safely disappearing in 60 seconds, you keep them on grid without the ability to defend themselves and give them a 15 minute timer? Great idea.

Also multiple player duels work fine.

This is only a small part of the ability to awox a corp , so who said idiot CEO's won't still be punished for making silly mistakes?CCP don't "Support" awoxing, they just allow it, but to the newer player this mechanic could now make it look like they've created a game mechanic with the sole purpose of awoxing.

I don't have an issue with awoxing itself. So don't get your knickers in a twist.

it allows you to awox them. This was said, and you ignored it. Don't like it, don't recruit people.
