Please add check box that will remove the "chat part" of a local.
I know i can scale it down - still this is simple fix - and many people will be glad because of this.
(this can be applied to all chat channels - i see people but i don't see what they write and i cannot write to them.
Few inches more on my screen , and tones of spam less.
Give us ability to disable local chat by for certain system - jita scammers rejoice , one tick and ... you are gone.

Simply join one of the channels that never has anything in it. I recommend "Events".

Crime, it is not a "career", it is a lifestyle.

I think that it would still take up the same screen space, which seems to be what OP is after as well.

Was totally expecting to see a "I want to shut off local intel in mai gaem". thread.

Honestly I don't see why not. It is a problem for people playing on laptops or with say 1366x768 resolution monitors (or worse), with chatboxes and your overview taking up a vast quantity of screen realestate.
Then you throw in a drone window (especially bad if your in a carrier cause of the sheer number of drones).
Your HUD at the bottom with all your modules off to the side.
Plus most people have local separate from their regular chatboxes so you've got 2 of those to deal with.
Now you get in a fight and start locking things up and that starts taking up space.
And heavens forbid you want to try and probe something down.
And lets not forget the watchlist.

+1 from me.

Another request. A "windowskey + D" kind of hotkey that when hit will clear the screen of all market windows, the character sheet, show info window.
Basically clears everything but the overview, drones, watchlist, HUD/Targets, and your chats. For those times when you're sifting through your PI or other industrial tasks, to see that theres something important going on and you need your screen ready for combat now.

OP wants to keep the free perfect intel that the local list provides without the pics, comments and asshattery that goes along with it.

No. Think of local as a freeware program or Microsoft office starter. If you want the free perfect intel, then you are going to have to deal with the 'ads' that go with it.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

So this means your buying everyone with older monitors new 2560x1600 monitors. Nice, here I'll sen u my address nao.

J/K, but the problem stands, that in the current game, some people have a bonus based on their machine hardware, over other players. It wouldn't be too hard for CCP to make a small edit to pull this closer into line. Rather than making it so their whole playerbase has pimped out machines (or in this case monitors).

And the problem isn't local itself. Its the minimum limit to what you can squish its box down to side to side.

Local nested with a little used channel off on its own filters the guff out nicely. With the chat window minamized all the way down all you can see is portraits.

Its interesting how someone can against this suggestions its a simple comfort feature, it simply reduce the need of higher resolutions and better computers for the Users without any negativ impact to the current game mechanic.

The issue is that when you try to minimize chat ; disable every thing possible, reduce font , scale it down ( yes keep player window ). Sometimes it begins to blink - as the code cannot decide how to format text inside this box.

Buying new monitor - yes that's one of the solutions if you don't have enough space.

I totally support this idea. CCP please implement this simple feature.
