tbh it looks like a pretty decent slate.

I'm hoping for another rather boring year of relatively drama free contructive work from a professional team.

yeah its a good slate, it could use a few more official goonswarm-endorsed members but pretty good nonethless

it is when they're asking you to pick 14 people.
i literally got to about 6 or 7 candidates and went "oh **** it, i can't be bothered" hit submit, and didn't bother logging in to vote on my alts.

Dolan is leaving Community team? Why? I thought he was doing a great job.

he's going to riot

Whats with Riot stealing all the CCP Devs? Wardec them!

The CSM XI Election are now open until March 25th, 2016. Consider Niko Lorenzio for CSM XI.

Good point, i was thinking next year, on the "candidates" and "voting" page, having a little TL;DR for each candidate under their name.

Like "FunkyBacon : LowSec (FW)" "Mynnna : Null-Sec (Sov)" etc.

So people who don't want/have the time to read what every single candidate have to offer can vote based on what they would like to support at the CSM. That would go a long way towards making more people votes.

Also, having an option after vote is sent to log on another account, with only login and 1 button to press to cast the sames votes.

Why can't CCP only let people I like run for elections?

Then I wouldn't even have to vote.

Voting is a lot of work and it's pretty hard.

I actually rather enjoyed the CSM this year. It's the second time I have really actively engaged with it.

I listened to CZ's interviews, I read some blogs, I read some threads in the hell hole.

Unbelievably, it was part of my game experience. It's something I enjoyed doing because I enjoy playing this game.

The advertising is terrible and the block voting is predictable but I feel it is still important.

Good luck to the new CSM and thanks to the folks that have worked so hard for the last year.

Aaaaaaand relax.

Picking 14 isn't required, you know. You pick up to 14. The "not filling in your ballot" mockery that Weaselior is engaging in is directed at the Provibloc folks, the vast majority of which put Corebloodbrothers and literally no one else down.

e with numbers: 2944 people listed Core as their first pick. 1736 of them listed no one else. By the end of the election over 800 of those votes transferred their way off into the void instead of doing anything.

This blog is useless without the ballot file (I understand the CSM is on the case though!)

Edit: (after getting the ballot file)

Here is my analysis that I ran last time around. Key:
Top Votes - # of votes with *all* the people at the top
Complete Votes - # of votes with all the people in the ballot somewhere
Partial Votes - # of votes with at least 2 of the people in the ballot somewhere that is not a top or complete vote
Solo Votes - # of votes that had just one person listed in the group

...

Bloc - Provi (corebloodbrothers)
Top Votes 2944 (9% of votes)
Complete Votes 2945 (9% of votes)
Partial Votes 0
Solo Votes 1736
Total Votes 7625 (24% of votes)

your total here makes no sense: each solo vote is also a top vote and a complete vote, each complete vote is a top vote (and those numbers should be the same I don't understand why they're off by one)

you can't just total all categories like this as you'll have some overlaps

Lol - how dare they vote as a bloc.

the hilarity isn't that they voted as a bloc, it's that they voted in the least efficient way possible as a bloc

800 votes applied to the right candidate could have seriously affected the chances of several candidates on the fringe if they had been applied optimally

granted it's difficult to know how to optimally apply these votes until after the results are released but it's still pretty damn shameful to have let them just evaporate for no reason other than complete ignorance

I may be misunderstanding, certainly not an unheard of occurence, but if their objective was just to get Core into the CSM then they succeeded.

Even if every other vote they could have taken was wasted, it's still mission success for them. No?

sounds like mine was wasted, which is nice to hear when voter turnout is lower than previously.

fill your ballot: people you don't really want on the csm get your votes.
don't fill your ballot: your vote is wasted.

i guess it's easy to see why people can feel so apathetic towards the elections.

Well if you can't find 14 people that you do want on the CSM then you could ponder the ones you don't want on the CSM and sort in reverse.

That way your vote goes to the least bad one, instead of possibly helping the ones you really don't want in.

CCP Greyscale: As to starbases, we agree it's pretty terrible, but we don't want to delay the entire release just for this one factor.

I put in for about 8 - only 3 of them I really wanted. The rest were down to them impressing me in chats or by knowledge.

Yeah, apparently my script has some bugs with 1 person blocs, I should probably just not include them.

Figuring out an order is always a little odd with STV, but here is what you get when you run the election for 1 seat, then 2, then 3, etc. This time around, progod would make a 5 person council, but not a 6 person council, where mynnna and corebloodbrothers displace him.

  1. Ali Aras
  2. Sion Kumitomo
  3. Steve Ronuken
  4. Sugar Kyle
  5. progodlegend
  6. (tie?) mynnna
  7. (tie?) corebloodbrothers
  8. corbexx
  9. Matias Otero
  10. Mike Azariah
  11. Mangala Solaris
  12. DJ FunkyBacon
  13. Xander Phoena
  14. Major JSilva

if I give you three boxes filled with money and you trip and drop one into the river because you tied your shoelaces to each other by mistake, you've still got two boxes of money

but that doesn't change that you lost an entire box full of money by being unable to tie your shoelaces

Wow, when the goon propaganda machine starts pre-empting me with defensive posting, they are indeed in full spin mode.

I have been doing RL work, so don't even have time to absorb this, but 31,274 votes cast versus 49,402 last year, wow.

Now, wonder what the cause was from the following choices:

a. CCP completely bungled the entire "get out the vote" concept to new players (love the huge chunk of new accounts created for the vote, wonder how many will be active next month?)
b. As Malcanis, mynnna, and the rest of the cartel propaganda team suggests, I, the lone high sec champion, managed to suppress the vote, with my posting of dead accurate analysis of what CCP and the cartels are doing with Eve.
c. The majority of the player base, high sec, recognized the direction the game is heading, realized the futility of voting and didn't.
d. All of the above.

Oh, and for option c., I wonder how many who chose that option are indeed voting in a much more pragmatic manner?

Also, the very last spot was quite close. It was down to Mangala, Major JSilva and Asayanami Dei, and Asay lost by 79 votes.
