If you have to ask if operating a POS will be worth it for you, the answer is no.
You should really only do so if you have a clear idea from the onset about what it's for.
Each racial POS type also has different strengths and weaknesses, so you'd generally buy/build the kind that works best for what you want it to do (e.g. Gallente control towers for moon mining).

That's why I am asking for advice from POS owners. I've never owned or operated one. How am I supposed to know without experience? Smile

Thank you Doc Fury, I wasn't entirely sure where I should post this one, plus I wanted to try and reach a broad audience.

Well my point is more of: you decide you want to do something, read up on it, find out that having a POS helps with that, and you go from there.
Not: I have a POS and I don't know what I can do with it.
The latter is only going to lead to frustration and wasted time. You're better off just selling it.

As one of the longest running POS operators in Eve, it's best to have a good idea what you want to do that involves a POS BEFORE you buy one. They're time and isk intensive, but can quickly make your isk back with some effort.

With the changes to POS following Kronos, expect them to be a bit bigger thing, as they're going to be a key tool for mining in high sec.

A small tower IS viable for a single account, but you should REALLY have a plan in advance. As far as the blueprint goes, if it's a 3 on one print, I'd build three, and sell two. Hold on to the one as you may have use for it down the road.

Hey guiz lok wat I founds! Thread# 2345.

Yeah...2345. Its not as popular a subject as Grrrrrr [Random entity] or AFK Cloaking.. whos threads easily number in the seven digits, but still more popular than most. Its a real number too..its not like I just typed those because theyre right next to each other and I took a sip of coffee right at that moment so I only had the one hand free. Yeah.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

If you don't know much about POS, I'd sell that one and try with a non-faction to start. Faction towers (particularly if you slip up and forget to fuel them) are as much targets due to the shiny KM as deterrents to attackers due to the improved stats.

Wow. So much frustration. I do agree with James, these are vague middle-management non-questions that indicate not a single shred of information about the subject has entered OP's skull yet. The information OP is looking for can be found here, on the first hit you get when you query google for "eve online pos". While James is short but concise, and I am actually friendly enough to do the query itself, your own behaviour is more indicative of the human condition then his.

But let me try to clarify my overall point.
If your reason for setting up a POS is "I have a control tower and I don't know what to do with it" then chances are very high you don't actually have any use for a POS, and trying to find some use for it is only going to lead to frustration and wasted time.

I don't often say "if you have to ask..." because most of the time it isn't true, but in this case it is.

Keep that Blueprint. If it's not important to you, it's important to someone. Establishing a POS for solo things is hefty work. I would hold on that and get a good deal in the EVE Marketplace forum.

Off topic: Some people sound like complete asses... OP asked a question and you have some boring bitching happening here.

Fascist is the word you are looking for there.
also, he's a gruff arse ( immensely entertaining to wind up ill add) but that should not preclude him from a) living and b) breeding.
Seriously is there a Eugenics revival that i'm unaware of? where the hell does this inflammatory crap come from.
