So I bought one of these, I have it in the hanger but for the life of me I cant see how you 'plug it in'

I have been told it should show in the re-customization window, but its not under clothes or eyes.

Can anyone explain to me how I actually use this item?

It should be in the eye accessories tab, all the way to the left of the normal options. If not, submit a petition.

~Badposter since FOOOOREEEEEVAAAAAR~ I come back after 2 years to THIS? ~Now 4 years apparently

do you perhaps have it in your cargohold rather than the hangar?

Also, if you char's 'already been flagged for recustomisation' following the initial new avatar release, you may have to complete that step first.

no, you can just select "no", and then you go into the normal recustomization.

Bingo, we have it, I was clicking yes to re-customization when it seems I should have been clicking no Roll

Aparently this works for OP, but I swear I tried that and it still didn't work because I made a similar post about it.

Still, it's not very intuitive.

For the record some thing did get messed up w/ the expansion.

My goggles disappeared, for one. They were on my head, but after the expansion they were gone. Not a big deal for 6 mil but at the same time not everything is so cheap. Big smile

could you then please file a bug report. That is of course not supposed to happen, and if there is a bug like that I'd really like to fix it. Could you please search for them in your assets? (is it possible that they got left behind when you clone jumped?)

See, even CCP doesn't know what the deal is.

I already had to petition this (look at my left eye) and here's what you have to do: you have to finish customizing your character at least once. Yes, it means your portrait is going to change a bit, but that was going to happen anyway, wasn't it?

Once you've gone through the recustomization, enter the screen again, and check under facial thinigies. It'll be there at the end of the list. Then just plug it in and go.

I mean I can't believe how hard it was to find this out, it took like 4 days. Someone should, y'know, maybe fix the wiki about it or put an announcement out. Hint hint.

Yeah I had to jump through a whole bunch of hoops to get my eye working. CCP really doesn't say anywhere about how to use the clothes.

I know it's a bit long, and you might not even care, but here is it anyway:P

ok, the reason for this is that when you were resculpting you were creating your base/default appearance. When you then jump clone, you would leave everything behind and end up in the other station as your default character.

So, the default character was never allowed to have on those bought items, so we couldn't offer them as an option when you were resculpting(which is something we gave to people right after the character creator was introduced, and of course some people, myself included, were so clever to save it until later causing those problems with default appearance and bought items).

Anyways, this was changed for Crucible so now you should only have one appearance (so you should be the same after clone jumping), but it somehow fell through the cracks to change it so the bought items are available when you are in full recustomization.... we do have a defect on it and we will hopefully find a solution to this soonish (I think it will be just to have it available there, but I don't want to promise that since this needs to be looked into) .

But if you notice that your stuff is getting left behind when clone jumping, please file a bugreport so we can look into it

(if you get the "this character has been flag for re-customization" message, you will still go into the normal recustomization if you anwser "no", because the misleading question is really asking you if you want to go into full recustomization, which was the only recustomization that existed in the beginning)

THE END Smile

I tried to figure out how exactly that would prevent a character from wearing clothing, but was left merely scratching my closely-shaved head in bewilderment. Less techno-jargon would be good here.

Sorry... ok, so in the beginning the idea was that there was one "base you", from which the clones were made. So when you clone jump that is the dude that's waiting for you on the other side. That guy was never supposed to have any bought items on (tfor reasons I don't bother getting into right now).
So when you are resculpting you are modifying the "base you", so we couldn't allow you save the "base you" with that cool eye.

I hope that explains it better Smile
(and I know it's confusing, and we are going to look into it)
