Hi I'm an afk-cloaker, so I'm not going to complain about afk-cloakers.

The elitists of this forum are of the opinion that an afk-cloaker cannot hurt you because he's afk. However you're only saying that because you're unable to see the difference between the character and the player (in opposite to what you keep preaching like a mantra)

The character never goes afk. And you have an issue with the character, not with the player. Not the player is in your system but the character.

To illustrate this, consider the following: I've made about 99% of the ISK that I have in Eve afk, because I'm an afk-trader. Yet my character does stuff. Very mean stuff. There's an okay chance that I've hurt you financially. While I was afk. You wouldn't call this a fictional danger either, would you?

tl;dr I like afk cloaking but anyone who says it isn't an issue hasn't thought this through

If you can demonstrate how a stealth bomber can kill somebody while cloaked in a safe with no one at the keyboard, be my guest.

Considering ships are ISK, that's the same thing. I suppose the average alliance drone poster doesn't understand this though.

OP is right. It is a logistical issue really.

If a player is AFK in a station, you know when he's returned and ready to aggress as you see him undock.
If a player is AFK in a starbase, you know when he's returned and ready to aggress as you see him warp out.
If a player is AFK in a safe not cloaked, you know when he's returned and ready to aggress as you see him warp away.

How does this mean an AFK cloaker can hurt another player? The PVE player relies on intel to keep himself as safe as can be. In the above scenarios a well positioned alt allows him to discern the level of risk present. Without any real intel available about the AFK cloaker, the PVE player is unable to discern any level of risk or the probability of being aggressed at any given point in time. In a game defined by risk vs reward, the inability to discern any level of risk indeed hurts the player.

The key is to differentiate between a non-AFK cloaker simply waiting our prey and an AFK cloaker doing no such thing. It is vital that any change to the mechanics do not at all affect the ability for cloaky PVPers or cloaky gangs to go about their business.
