Name changes correctly never will happen, what about Case Remaps?

Would it not be nice to be able to spend Aurum to simply remap the case of the letters in your name?

For example, if your name is currently "hurdurr mcDurrDurr" you could alter your name to "HurDurr McDurrdurr", "HURRDURR MCDURRDURR" or any variation of the sort.

Would be a nice touch for people who may have typoed or not cared about capitalisation when they were 12 and started the game. :)

I was thinking perhaps 1 Plex worth of Aurum could buy you 2 Name Remaps.

There is no amount of casing that would make "hurdurr mcDurrDurr" any better.

I could get down with this as I believe names are unique no matter the case used. When I created my Corp it was required (AFAIK) to be in UPPERCASE which now pee's me off no end and would love to correct the case.

+1 for an elegant and worthy "Change 4 Plex" idea on names.

Ah, good idea, Corp names too.

No idea if it's even possible on the backend but it's just an Idea I thought of today.

When I made my alt I accidentally forgot the upper case for a name and petitioned to change that. I was told the database does not distinguish between upper and lower case and fixing it was simple. Not sure if anything changed since then. So it would definitely be possible with a petition. Though my character was less than a day old then, so that may have allowed some leniency on the matter. Maybe some GM/Dev could shed some light on this? Paging Prism X.

That is good to hear. Makes a paid version more likely. :)

kidding.

if searching, locators and killboard stuffs dnt distinguish between upper and lower cases then why even the need to pay for it? just make it as easy and free as changing ur avatar.

Well, for a few reasons.

1) To prevent spam and abuse of the system, as is inevitable when anything is free.
2) Try and make AUR somewhat useful.
3) Pudding.

Sounds like a good idea to me.
One of my alts has "the" lowercased, while my other alt has "The" uppercased. Nothing namebreaking, but still annyoing to look at when multiboxing Big smile

I disagree. It just adds more workload to the GMs and it helps drain plex out of the economy. :3

I agree that it will tick the additional revenue stream box but I'm concerned that that this revenue may be counter productive.

Customers who find that they're niggled with the game are perfect targets for some positive customer service impact. Charging people more cash when they are down with the mechanics of the game is likely have a negative influence on them, possibly even helping the decision to start another game with the cash!

I had a cap letter issue a few years ago on an alt. CCP dealt with it quickly and as a result I have a greater respect for CCP and a greater loyalty to this game (and I'm still paying them a sub every month).

You can petition for this already and the GMs will change the case for you. This is because you are not actually changing the spelling, merely the case and the database doesn't care.

Again, as I have said, this just adds workload to the GMs that they don't need.

Just ask in a petition if you want letters in your name Capitalising
they will usually sort it within a few days
