codebreaking and anaylizing sucks since changes

As soon as they mage the changes, I quit doing it.

I don't like codebreaking and anaylizing any more. Watching all the stuff fly away from the can really sucks.

And then, there's all the crap that you get that you never saw in the cans before the changes.

I still have BCP's from the Amarr COSMOS, and I've tried going to back to get the Blood Raider parts. It's just too much work for so littlre reward.

What, if anything, am I doing wrong?

Or does it just suck?

It just sucks.

I haven't done a single site since they turned it into a cell phone game.

I don't mind the little unlocking mini-game. But trying to catch cans is such a pain I won't even waste my time with them... and half the time there is just junk in them.

I caught lots of cans in both Hi and Low-sec - had friends and did it in W-space when we could.

Just scan the can before you hack it, then pick cans associated with the goods you're looking for. No need picking the Scrap can with a BPC drop.

At least it's way more engaging than the cycling we had before.

Good news!

spew cans are going away!

But the minigame isn't. But before it was pretty much just 'push buttan, receive bacon', which isn't good.

Try reading one of the HUNDREDS of intarwebs threads about which cans in which sites to grab.

^^ this.

Minigame is the only moment when you're vulnerable and can be killed by a cloaky hunter. Without the minigame, having higher value loot in low and nullsec would make no sense, since safe travelling with a covops is trivial.

reference please?

I might actually start doing them again. Couldn't stand the spew.

It's always worked for me. Always got 100% of the loot I had scanned every time I managed to get all of the associated minicans (very often).

AFAIK this site is very accurate: http://cache.preserve.io/4oxyc8h9/index.html

People were calling for these kinds of "mini-games" to defeat botters.

Navitaging the maze and scooping the jettisoned bits from space is intended to be hard for botters to handle.

So, everytime you find a site that hasn't already been run by a bot, and then have to do the stupid, annoying mini-game, and then try to grab th stuff in space as it drifts away, think that the site wouldn't even be there if not for the mini-game that blocked the.....

Oh wait. The sites have to be probed, which already defeats bots, and it was really mining that people wanted to add mini-games to defeat bots and mega-multi-boxers, and those are the sites that don't need probed.......

Ummmm...

Nevermind.

Well, my explorer alt got 30 mil from low sec archaeology site the other day. (blue and orange salvage + value of items manufactured from bpc obtained). A little thinking is involved in mini game as opposed to cycle hacking mod until can opens. Which I find preferable. Usually though 10-15 mil. Not bad for time investment if a couple sites can be had.
Your eyeballs might develop cramps though, as you repeatedly shift gaze between local and the mini game screen. But, meh, its really not that bad. I just never pick the scrap cans.
Now watch, CCP will secretly add nice stuffs to the scrap cans. Roll
I think I'll have T-shirts printed up to sell at fan fest next year- "Embrace the Spew!" Even if people hate the mini game, they'll buy the T-Shirts cause the word Spew.

It works, but not in COSMOS-sites. COSMOS-parts are just randomly distributed. Which is kind of interesting, if you want to get one specific part you could see in your scan, but have to catch 20+ spawn containers. And everyone except the right one contains junk. And by interesting I mean horrible. Smile

As a new STEAM player I have spent more time reading tutorials and forums this past week then my last five years of video games combined.

One thing I have noticed in the forums (after pouring through them as often as I can) is the AFK/botting of mining in higher security often times comes up. I think people are not happy with the way bots/afk players mine very often free from worry or risk.

Why not put some of these minigames onto the mining platforms/ships/weapons or asteroids?

For example, mining lasers can overheat and have a minigame to optimize the heat flow, readjust the output of the mining lasers.

Or have the asteroids themselves have a minigame to be able to cut through the soft spots without hitting the harder denser portions.

Wouldn't that put less ore into the economy, raise the value/prices of it, raise the prices, value and desirability of basically every ship and item in the game since refining would be more desirable, make the actual non afk, non botting miners have greater impact/desirability in the entire universe?

Wouldn't it also pretty much end botting virtually overnight?

Mining just seems so BORING. (Maybe I am missing something when doing it?)

Wouldn't a minigame at least be more "buzzword" fun?

Hmmm, let's put something in which annoys and frustrates the real player and is easy for a bot to handle. Excellent idea.

Bots have little trouble with the described kind of minigames, they're not dumb click in one spot apps, they're not simple macros. The more advanced ones can modify the client and/or read the client's memory directly and can programatically tell what the game expects.
