I really hope its not terrible like the last 3.

For me the first trilogy that came out is hands down way way better than the new one in every way.

Plus the old one used models and miniatures for the spaceships. I think it looks better than all the CG that was used later. There is something about using models that makes it so much more lifelike and real looking.

JJ Abrams has said they are indeed going to use a lot of practical effects. They will be 3D printing ships and all that.

ed: I'll be happy as long as the camel fart jokes, and animated characters stepping in poopie, and 6 year olds shouting "Yip-PEEE!" are absent. I'm normally forgiving when it comes to young child performances, but Jake Lloyd was just absolutely awful. Terrible. Especially in this day and age when child actors are honestly usually phenomenal all things considered.

Thats good to hear. I prefer practical effects over CG any day.

Abrams makes some awesome films, in my opinion. Super 8 was fun to watch. He's also butchered some key elements of Trek Classic, but he's turned the series into something relevant and less awkward/niche.

Also Lost was good up until the point that Jack was playing football with The Others.

And.. and... I was enjoying Fringe until they broke into a musical (!)

Star Wars Episode VII: The Oh God Please No

Anyway, we're living in an era of horrible reboots. Old legends are being dug out of their graves and defiled. A couple of recent examples include Robocop and Wolfenstein (3D). Star Wars is just one of the many victims.

There's no way it's gonna be good. Search your feelings, you know it to be true.

But....but....but.......he produced the excellent ST:DS9 and BSG. What's the beef with him (that I must have been unaware of) ?

You cited perfect examples. Go back and watch the last season of both, particularly how they wrapped up. Also: Starbuck = Zombie Jesus.

He also produced and wrote for Voyager, and Caprica and we know how well those worked out.

I will give him props for Carnivàle, but only up until he bailed out to do BSG making a 3rd season impossible to sell to the money people.

Voyager/DS9 both were OK for their time. Writers budgets were different back then. BSG and B&C cancelled and the awful last season of bsg was just in spite to the network from the Writers, same thing happened with Enterprise.

Back on topic. Star Wars Episode VII: Something...Something...Darkside. Yeah, terrible and since George is involved it's inevitable another lost romance story is coming. Brace yourselves.

Noted that Lucas spent millions to remaster the old episodes and Adywan in his basement with Sony Pro remastered it for $0. (clip and prompts to this guy that edited it, most impressive).

I won't even be going to watch these ones.

In my opinion a true Star Wars fan knows that it is dead and gone.
