duh.

That is up for debate with various physics - depending on what you call sound and if dark matter exists and if waves can be measured between planets and other material.

but, let's just leave it at that. it drives people crazy and is a good way to start a fight - on the same level as replacing a guitarist in a band, rather than just do another take.

the difference is so minor though.

It's a 'minor' issue that people used to get banned over for editing the client. Granted, with fewer people playing anymore, it's less of an issue.

We're gonna keep it up until you put it back. Even if, like POS getting overhauled, we have to keep at it for 7 years.

I always understood the sound we hear as an additional layer of information generated by our ship's or capsule's computer. :)

Yea, lore wise that is the correct way of listening to it. :)

Choosing what we hear is neat, but any chance of choosing which device we hear it through? With so many audio devices per system these days (HDMI, USB everything, "real" sound cards, virtual sound cards, etc), it would be very useful to direct EVE's sound through a device aside from the default. For example, I often hear normal players wishing to put some programs' audio through their speakers while others play on their USB headphones. Live streamers and offline recorders could also benefit in the form of cleanly recording game sounds by routing it through an isolated virtual audio device instead of trying to maintain quiet on the set and hoping no random beeps or YouTube links in fleet mar the track.

Mac and Linux allow users to route audio per application at the OS level, Windows itself does not offer this because Microsoft's official stance is that "it's on the developers". Please be awesome and give us even more control in their stead! Big smile

Errrr... stupid question.

Do we get to set bass, treble, depth or whatever it is called, too?

Uhm.... equalizer?

Keep up the good fight my friend, you aren't the only person that feels audio can and should be just as important a part of the EVE universe as the amazing graphics.

You've done amazing work, and I feel you have not received the recognition you deserve... just know that some of us realize how much work you've put into this and we appreciate it immensely.

Unconditionally seconded.

The new audio options weren't up on SiSi last night, but I am very much looking forward to testing them, particularly while multi-boxing.

Have you Communicated with your fellow capsuleers today? It is good for the EvE-oconomy and o-kay for you.

Yes equalizer is correct.

Doubtful, I'd love to have one though ,
there are some rather abrasive sfx I would like to take the edge off, though the stuff in the presentation looks like a solution.

I think this is already possible, I mean, I can currently in the EVE client select any active audio device (as listed by Windows) as the primary output for the game audio.
It defaults to the one set as primary by Windows, but I can choose any of the 3-4 others my computer currently has. The same goes for voice input, it accepts any active input device my system has.

that's very incorrect.
windows lets you choose default output just fine?

yet, you cannot choose that some goes through one thing or something else out of a different output, unless you have a dedicated soundcard with a proper mixing setup.

and no, we do not currently have this option in EVE itself, and most likely wont as the system is setup right now.

However, if you *change* input while EVE is open the sounds in EVE dies.

Sisi, should be up and running early next week,
I don't know if I can get this on there, but I'll give it my best shot.

What happen to tracks such as Surplus of Rare Artifacts and Below the Asteroids? Haven't heard them ever since Rubicon came out.
