Fanfest 2014 Tournament?

I am curious if there is going to be a 5v5 pvp tournament this year like there was last year.

If you go to the fanfest website HERE It clearly states this is the website for 2014. Then if you click on Events at the top taking you HERE You can then click on "EVE PvP Tournament" taking you HERE and it still says "EVE Fanfest 2014" at the top but all the info on the page says 2013. So am I just missing the thread for info on the tournament or is CCP just being lazy and proving they are terrible at making webpages?

In the past I have made posts here on the forum asking for a clear set of rules before the Fanfest tournament. Once I had to corner a CCP employee at fanfest 12 hours before the tournament to receive a crumpled up piece of paper with some vague rules after getting replies from CCP on the forums assuring me that the Tournament and its rules would be posted well in advance of fanfest.

Last years fanfest was probably the best executed tournament that I have attended out of my 6-7 fanfest tournies. Other tournaments were riddled with problems, delays, vague rules, rules being changed at the last minute, and ccp cutting player fitting time to such a point where people were forced to undock with semi setup ships, seating arrangement that gave advantages to teams that sat in the same place in for all their matches.

I was hoping to see a return of last years professionalism that i thought it took them decades to achieve. But we are now staring at a copy pasta text from the last years ruleset.

Not the worst case scenario but I was hoping for something better.

It's not just that. It's the fact of whether or not there is one. The rules from last year say the silent auction is from the 17-21st meaning if there is one I would have to contract the plex over by tomorrow. But once again, I don't know if there is a tournament. This is some of the worst courtest and professionalism from CCP I have ever seen.

We just announced the Fanfest tournament on our live stream. It will be a 5v5 sit and go tournament with prefit ships and independent matches. This means you don't need to sacrifice a whole day just to compete.

It's the same format that was used at EVE Vegas 2013.

Any chance of getting a post with the fits and stats from the fanfest tournament like the one from Eve Vegas soon? I'm very curious how our fits did.

I was there, no challenge at all, didn't participate to that non-tournament.
It was just a good way to farm some faction ship.

Agreed. The pre fitted ships were also fitted like crap. Dual tanked t1 cruisers and other useless things. I had the enjoyment of trying to use an Osprey with cap 100s. (only cap 100s or 25s were available when i sat down).

Also why were we limited to t1 cruisers or AFs?

Sooo... I submitted an Osprey with a Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster... and this is apparently what happened:

So yeah, not quite sure what to say. Now obviously that's not gonna work out very well, and I would expect anyone with even a basic understanding of eve to know that. As there was not a single ASB in our setups I'm not even sure what those charges were even doing there, or why 800s and 400s weren't at least available as well.

Coming up with 10 fits on sort of short notice and with an unclear set of rules was already kind of a hassle, but I was curious how they would do and if people had fun flying them. However, if something like this can't even be sorted out I'm not surprised people didn't enjoy this event and quite frankly, I'm kinda disappointed myself.

I think alternate charges were added to corp hangars by 2nd day (at least i saw some null M which wasn't there initially), probably it applies to 400/800 cap charges as well.

For our side (HYDRA fits) the only major change in fits was use of AB instead of MWD on scythe, the rest are minor mistakes which probably did not affect overall efficiency.

As for format - for events like fanfest it's definitely an improvement, if you have an hour between interesting panels/roundtables - you always know you can spend it in PvP room.
