Cannot see NPC's in space

I am not sure how to explain this, I just re-activated and I cannot seem to get my overview correct. It used to be that in space you could see rats with cross-hairs on them so you could easily see pockets, etc. when in a mission. Now there does not seem to be anything in space unless I have them selected in my overview. I would like to get those brackets, tags, or whatever they are called back.

I hope this makes sense.

Just found the answer, for anyone else there is a show/hide all bracket choice under the overview. Is it possible to choose something either than all or nothing though?

Click on the drop-down menu at the top left of your overview window and 'Show all brackets'

Sounds to me like your overview is FUBAR. I'd reset it to begin with. Look in the ESC menu.


To clarify, "brackets" are the symbols you see on ships in space.

Every tab on your overview can have a custom set of brackets.

Usually I have the bracket profile set to be the same as the overview profile.

Default shortcuts:
* Toggle Show All Brackets ALT-Z
* Toggle Show No Brackets ALT-SHIFT-Z
* Toggle Special Bracket Display ALT-SHIFT-X
"Special" includes moons, and probably other celestials.

Yes. I've written a little guide for those that would like to tinker with overview settings. All the same settings for your overview tabs can be applied to brackets. They use the same saved profiles.
