I'd like to see it happen, but it's not going to happen like the trailer made it seem. Trailers and pictures are flattering.

Actual fights in Eve are too infrequent to support a game in that way.

The most exciting thing in EVE is a Titan blowing up, but that does not happen every day either. No, the bread and butter of DUST/Legion will be infantry battles on planetary surfaces. The large EVE/DUST/Valkyrie battles will be as rare as the large battles in EVE are now, but when they happen they will be exciting!

I don't see why this can't work. Make mercs an item in eve that is deposited into a pos once the shields drop. It creates a match in dust/legion that players get pulled into. The outcome of the match has an effect on if the attacker takes control of the pos. Add in eve items that give mercs access to special vehicles and hardware to improve your chances, and possibly a coordination system to have specific merc players work for you instead of random queues. When there's no merc battles going in eve, legion/dust players can queue and get into other senarios, but eve attacks would be prioritized.

They've provided glimpses...

Imagine Alliances having to make the choice of either destroying a station by blowing it up with ships, or taking control of it with Legion players.

How much would it cost to hire a Legion merc squad to take a station?

I am assuming the technology and skill to accomplish the Legion/Valkyrie/EVE sandbox will take place.... and with a huge amount of patience, I will wait.

I made this topic primarily to show CCP that people are infact still excited about Infantry in EVE and to pursuade them to continue working on Legion, despite the backlash they got from the Dust community.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

Remember a few years ago, we were told we'd be able to nuke people's PI structures, "Just to be sure"?

All these "Visions of the Future" CCP tempts us with, look more and more like hallucinations Roll

not particularly, honestly.

i just dont see ccp developing something in the footsoldier area that could compete with even planetside 2, which is not even top of the line when it comes to good fps gameplay.

and if star citizen turns out to be even a quarter of what they claim in all the hype, Valkyrie couldn't have picked a worse time to start getting worked on

Oh my, yes.

In fact, I bet it is something CCP eventually wanted to do when they conceived DUST 514. Including it in a trailer somehow confirms it.

I hope those dropships could be moved around in EVE's ships... I'm imagining a Typhoon releasing a stream of missiles, drones and dropships so thick it looks like a mini-doomsday device lol

It wont

And they are utterly different projects (V and SC), so I dont know how they supposedly compare

The Prophecy trailer showed off CCPs future vision involving infantry grunts being transported in actual ships that were tangible on the EVE client.
Alongside that we also saw infantry grunts duking it out inside orbital structures after having breached said structures.

Wether or not you think CCP can accomplish this vision I have to ask my fellow players: Is this something you are excited about and would love to see implemented?

The day EVE can be played like it was seen in the trailer might be the last day the real world will see the real me.

I'm not ashamed to admit it, I want this. (︺︹︺)

I like how the NPC rogue drone art assets are used as station defense in the video. They look pretty mean so can't wait to blow some of those up in Legion.

The tech side of that is done
The downside
The tech side is all thts done
So basically you could move the dropship to the item slap the magic button, the dusties get to suddenly have their doors open and start playing
They win, the server then says EVE side effect occurs, either damage or effect whatever

Thats it
No graphics, no interaction elements, nothing

Just the servers can talk and do so reliably
But its just calls so you arent getting much game play fun
Still impressive it works

Seeing as the last time I tried getting a server to talk to me resulted in needing a new server Lol

Its conceptually simple in much the same way an optocoupler lets you bypass all the issues with getting circuits of different power levels to work
