So ... we haven't heard about earth for almost a decade .... what has happened, what is happening on Earth?

It would be interesting if CCP brought Earth back into the picture as another playable faction ....

Except Earth (if it survived) had tech that was far beyond our tech levels, and that was thousands of in game years ago.

And bringing Earth as a playable faction is quite possibly the least interesting option of any of the current races they could add.

Exactly, people always talk about "terrans" and "aliens" being "good to bring back/in", fact is, because of the flavor difference amd obvious lore/story implications of those factions, it woudl turn the game from a difference of human conflict, into a "us vs them" paradigm, which is overdone and detracts from the overall story of the game.

Well, there are hints to it in the lore. For example, Jamyl I is speaking to someone or speaks to a 'voice' rather, which told her, to find lost terran technology, such as the Terran Shield Inverter utilized at the Battle of Mekhios.

Use of this weapon is dramatized in this trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKdTJjDnYzE

Her Abaddon is able to annihilate the entire elder fleet, using a shield inverter to cause their own shields to reverse-energize, collapsing into their hulls, then cascading across the entire fleet.

Mind you this is technology that the Earth-people/terrans LEFT here, before the gate closed.

Their technology, by now, would be so far ahead of us.

At any rate, at some point they will come through again, or perhaps in the latest trailer "Prophecy", we are opening a gate back home.

They might have had their own exodus and are currently behind or on equal footing with New Eden.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

When we blew up their expedition fleet by collapsing the wormhole, we made sure Earth got fried by a gamma ray blast. They're not doing anything anymore, they got it worse than we did. At least we're alive and free.

Its hard to say, it could have gone both ways. While we are behind based off of time, we also got help from Jovian and other ancient tech that could have expedited our advancement moreso then Earth. Not to mention it is unknown the repercussions the Eve Gate collapsing had on Earth, it could have devastated them more so. Not to mention the exodus plus the internal fighting that was going on could have caused them to slow their advancement down, or annihilated themselves.

A tragic event transpired, society deteriorated, earth lost all knowledge, and today they are experiencing the Renaissance in the 14th century.

I'm in it for the money

Doubtful. Reason: Voice speaking to Jamyl I, Terran Shield Inverters, etc.

We don't have anything like a shield inverter that could wipe out a capital fleet in one shot.

I imagine they're waiting for another wormhole so they can come back and exterminate us.

As to their power, imagine this.

The Jove's power makes us look like children. But the Jove are nothing before the sheer, unstoppable might of the Terrans.

If I recall my lore, the Jove never reached pre-wormhole collapse Terran Tech. Jove Tech is considered Tech level 5, Terran Tech was Tech level 10.

Even if the wormhole devastated earth, as long as they survived, they'd likely still have the knowledge to rebuild. On this side of the wormhole, most of the colonies weren't even fully terraformed, and had no industrial/manufacturing base or knowledge to build off.

You know Jovians are primitive even compared to the post collapse terrans right?

Wasnt the wormhole to New Eden discovered pretty close to Earth? Look how the eve gate collapse affected New Eden and it was what....4 ly away? Destroying life on Earth would certainly not have destroyed the entire civilization since at that point they had a higher amount of colonies and infrastructure than New Eden did.

I wouldn't mind seeing them become an enemy later on, but we have so much to explore still in our cluster...Jovians are still somewhat of a mystery and interacting with them, even as they are dying off, would be much more desirable at this point.

I haven't payed much attention to recent lore or novels. So I have no idea what you are talking about. Last I remember from a lore standpoint was that there was no contact post collapse.

If you could link that would most helpful.

Now that I think about it, I should really get the novels.

E: Question to those that have read the novels. Is it vital to read Empyrean Age prior to reading Templar One?

It might have been several solar systems, even regions away.

The collapse of the EVE gate only affected nearby solar systems, the thing that killed off alot of the civilisations was the fact that their suplies were cut off, they were not self sufficient enough yet to survive without help from across the EVE gate.

Ahh yes, it was supposedly discovered in the Canopus system which is approx 313 light years from Earth :P

Haven't heard for a decade? More like a millennia

In any case, if you watch the introductory animation to the game, it explains that Earth was pretty much forgotten about.

Most people in New Eden have no clue about the existence if Earth at all I would suspect.
