I would suggest that rather than make it a subscription based game, that they simply make it ten bucks to play it.

A pay wall is almost as good as a subscription for keeping out the riffraff.

If that happened, then CCP would still have to rely on microtransactions to make the game profitable.
I thought we were against most forms of microtransactions here?

So long as it isn't as brutally pay to win as DUST is, I don't particularly mind.

What did you have in mind as a subscription price, by the way? Because no first person shooter in existence is worth $15 a month.

Not in existence but…
I would pay that for a Fallout 3 MMO. Everytime since I played the game and I see a person on the tv or movie screen die I have this weird urge to loot its corpse to see what he/she/it has on it. Just think of it with freely roaming super mutants attacking you from behind while you're trying tp PvP or you just set up your corp's shop in an abandoned vault only to find it run over with fire ants the next day.

Would definitely be a shut up and take my money case. :)

If CCP could somehow do something like that within the EVE universe, and not just a run and shoot everything but take the stuff that's on Tranquility and project it onto ground surface, awhmaigod… >.>

If you're planning on going to EVE Vegas, you might want to reconsider, then.

So I'm safe, me and my buddies choose only European cities as destinations for our yearly 'no wives or girlfriends allowed' festivities. At least for now but if we run out of those and we still be alive maybe we will cross an ocean to discover new lands. Who knows what future will bring?

I wanted to run that by people, too....

Am I the only one that doesn't buy the overwhelmingly popular DUSTie excuse for being mad about Legion?

"I don't own a PC and can't afford one"

Who in the actual hell pays 40-50 a month for a gaming-quality internet connection, and only uses it for console games and Netflix?
And I don't see any smartphone as having the battery life to allow them to spew rage all over the forums for hours on end. Especially with the massive wall-o-text posts they were making.

Lying liars who lie.

While i agree the Dust bunnies got boned, the fact remains that there is only a small handful of them playing the game. 4 or 5,000 active players spending a few bucks here and there is not enough to support game development or hosting. If CCP wasn't making any cash, why would they want to continue to drop company resources towards that particular game.

The PS4 is built more like a PC then the ps3 was. It leaves a door open to port Legion over without having to re-write the entire game. Couple that with the fact that the ps3 is hitting the landfills, and it makes sense for CCP from a business standpoint. I like to know the actual numbers, but i doubt Dust was even making the salary of 1 or 2 developers.

CCP should stick with what they know regarding pricing and the cost of playing their games. Give Legion the same payment system as EvE and call it a day. (aka, monthly sub, or PLEX if you want to grind it out.) If they want Legion to be another F2P game, it's going to die in a fire of 4-5 thousand players just like Dust did.

I think it's safe to say it's proof positive CCP should discourage players less than 16 years of age. Possibly they could also enforce a minimum IQ to play akin to the height requirement for many carnival rides.

You must be this smart: 110+
To play this game.

I envision a new type of IQ captcha that must be solved prior to creating an account.

EVE's ridiculous learning curve was supposed to be the IQ-level regulator. That obviously has been circumvented, considering some of the people we deal with on a daily basis.

$40-$50 a month for internet? Are you guys talking Euros or something? ShockedBig smileBig smile

My internet is 3x that here in New England. (Comcast,.. err Comcrap, depending on how it's working.)

With some of the games I like to play, I have zero tolerance for slow connections and bad ping rates. With EvE, most patches take a few minutes or less and even an expansion download takes around 10 minutes.

Exactly. CCP has been flattening that curve.

I do realize my new requirements would potentially eliminate a lot of goons (and others), but as a community I am certain we can muddle through, and goons (for instance) could take this as a real opportunity to leverage their SA forums for education purposes to "graduate" viable and quasi-educated EVE players who could at least solve the captcha without their mom's help.

There's a difference between stupid people, and insufferable bellends like me.
I'm actually quite intelligent and not at all as pedantic, in real life.... but in EVE, I'm a pirate with a slapstick wit and a penchant for being boneheaded but competent.
That's how I slipped my horrifying sense of humor past the learning curve. By being actually smart and taking it out on you lot.
