Is it safe to say that the drama and ragebile-spewing on the DUST forums is proof-positive of why you don't make F2P games?
Please make Legion a subscription-based MMO, so we don't run into this problem anymore.
I'm seriously never going to complain about the EVE forums again, after this weekend. Even at our absolute worst, we're nowhere near that bad.
I'm not even gonna get mad when blokes complain about the gifts, anymore.

I ususally leave games when they turn F2P.

I hate the cash shops constantly in my face.

Agreed.

At least if its on PC then a lot more people will give it a try.

making legion subscription based is the fastest way to get me not to try it.

the issue with the dust bunnies is age, not bank related. moving to pc will help with this.

EVE is subscription based and you still get plenty of dribble, flaming, and trolling on these forums.

I'm most worried about the microtransactions that are pretty much always a part F2P games.

I don't even think it's just age. Some of those guys might have actually been as old as they claimed to be.
Obviously not the ones that were saying "PC gamers are all gay/virgins/have down's syndrome/etc"... those are obvious teenagers.
I really think it's just the accessibility of the F2P environment.

The quote "that's how we get ants" comes to mind.

I would like to think those of us with EvE accounts would get a by-ball on paying.

Also, I can say Id rather not see any firearms, gear or armour that are only available with cash, aurum or plex.

That would grind my gears.

Mate, no..... not like that we don't. It was horrible.
I play DUST, and care about the community, so I was there basically as an extra fire extinguisher.

The rage was just beyond the pale. We have NEVER been that bad. Not even in the infamous Mintchip welcome thread.

They've actually done a pretty good job of balancing that.
Yes, you can access "proto" quality suits and weapons, earlier through AUR transactions.... but they take up almost twice the PG/CPU, so you nerf the crap out of yourself when you fit one. It completely circumvents "pay-to-win".... in an absolutely brilliant way, might I add.

I think it would be more accurate to say I "tried" the old republic.

Didnt last long.

I would suggest that rather than make it a subscription based game, that they simply make it ten bucks to play it.

A pay wall is almost as good as a subscription for keeping out the riffraff.

If that happened, then CCP would still have to rely on microtransactions to make the game profitable.
I thought we were against most forms of microtransactions here?

So long as it isn't as brutally pay to win as DUST is, I don't particularly mind.

What did you have in mind as a subscription price, by the way? Because no first person shooter in existence is worth $15 a month.

I think the better approach would be to have Legion as a F2P game with the option of a subscription that offers you enough incentives for you to cough up the monthly fee. Pretty much what Planetside 2 is doing now.

Edit: Alternatively allow us to pay for it monthly with PLEX.
