In-Game Events and Gatherings

As a new player in EVE I have come to notice that there are not a lot of things to encourage friendly competetion in the game that we all love. To that end, I am planning to host the First Jita Open in 3 weeks. This event is going to be a single elimination, bracket based tournament. The event is open to any pilot who would like the opportunity to have some fun and win some bragging rights. But, there is more. The winner of this all-or-nothing event will take home a PLEX.

This tourney is going to be limited to tech one frigates for fairness' sake. There are only going to be a few rules and restrictions on the event. The rules are as follows.

1) There is to be ABSOLUTELY NO podding whatsoever. If a contender pods an opponent, that contender will be disqualified from this and all future events.

2) All event rounds will last 5 minutes each and dueling contenders will be required to stay within 100 KM of their referee at all times.

3) Your fitting must be submitted with your entry and may not be changed during the event. If you change your fitting between rounds you will be disqualified and forfeit your round. (referees will scan your ships at the beginning of each round)


Beyond these simple rules, you are allowed to use whatever means necessary to achieve your victory. Keeping in mind that not only do you take home a PLEX as a winner, but you get to have some bragging rights and kill mails as well. Since this is the first event I am holding and since I want to encourage participation, the buy in for the tournament is only going to be 10 million isk per player. Bear in mind that I will be paying the difference in entry fee and price of PLEX myself to fund the event.
