Hi all,
Given what i've read about the upcoming Eve:Kronos an article said there's hints of all stations be destructible including hisec stations and that worries me because if this is true and i just happen to go on holiday i could come back to the game only to find out i've lost everything.
Has this been confirmed or is it unfounded rumors being spread on the Internet?

I like crazy plans

Edit: Rewording my post:

It was stated as a vision goal for 'some time in the future', though even then it's more likely that this pertains only to player built structures and was a poorly worded marketing statement.

There are a lot of problems you introduce to the game by making low and high sec a free for all zone, problems you can't just wave away with 'it will solve itself'. If low and high sec ever become a FFA zone, it will be after a LOT of game systems have been redesigned, recoded and re-implemented. Don't count on it happening within the next 5 years, if at all.

If you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all...

The one big issue with issue with making high sec and low sec npc destructible is that ccp would **** off alot of players and those players would cancel their subscriptions pretty much overnight in the thousands.

Unfounded Rumour.

The quote actually talks about everything 'Player Made'.
High & Low Sec stations are not player made.

CCP implements destructible highsec stations.

Jita 4-4 explodes shortly after downtime.

Dodixie, Amarr, Hek and Rens explode shortly thereafter.

The rest of new eden drowns in the tsunami of tears.

Forum warriors computers explode from the butthurt explosion in General Discussion.

It will be glorious. A day that will be trolled in infamy.

No. Major high-sec stations will not be destructible. It just isn't going to happen. At the most, they will be vulnerable but have so much HP/shield tank that it would take a fleet of capitals to get to their hull. Not to mention Concord. The day that Jita 4-4 goes down will be the day EVE is over.

As for lesser high-sec stations, or stations in low and null, that might be open to debate.

At which point the meme "Eve is dying" would be true.

Also only player made outposts/gates will most likely be destroyable, its something that has been discussed for years. Not sure how they will handle it as far as hanger drops but it will be interesting.

I highly doubt anything NPC will be destroyable, such as stations or gates. Though gates would be interesting.

Outposts should be destroyable. There is not much stuff in them anyways compared to high sec.

So some alliance loses a stash of dreads of sub caps, big deal. Some dudes will lose ratting ravens/ishttars/marauders.

Its all replaceable and can be stored in POSes anyways. I live in wormholes from a POS - no problem. Nullbears will adjust.

Destructible high-sec stations would be the fastest rolled-back change in the history off MMO's.

Still, it would be fun to see. Twisted

They already have precedent (they ship unsubbed players out of wormholes at some point - seems to coincide with resub offers), for dealing with unsubbed assets. IMO at some point they'll have to ship unsubbed assets out and announce that assets subbed at some point x in the near future will be "in play" so to speak. It wouldn't disturb me if some people abused that to free ship stuff, the important thing would be to sort it going forward so that everyone with assets in play knew they were in play.

They are already moving to fix the main issue that bugs me - ie where to locate BPOs, since they want to transition the game to build from copy instead of build from original, so I should be able to run off a months blueprints relatively quickly in highsec.

It all came from a single powerpoint slide in a marketing presentation that showed an image of a generic space scene that happened to have a station in it, and the dev said something like "everything should be destructible." Later in the same session, during a different marketing presentation, the lead dev said "everything player-made should be destructible." Mostly, it was pandering to the nullsec populations who've been on a "outposts should be destructible" kick for a while now. Marketing fluff.

Already a thread for this discussion.

That said, the basica idea was that players could build anything and anything could be destroyed. Anything is pretty damn board, and, yes, would include high sec space stations.

To all of those squawking about the fact, I remind you, they have 350m shield HP. Assuming that the wardec rules don't change, that would take 32,000 typhoons to kill by down time, not taking time dilation into account.

doesnt matter, until highsec empires egt an RTS AI to counter-attack/destroy null pos'es its just a one-sided change that woudl DEFINETLY give game control to null.

and besides that, highsec is the place people go to get back on their feet after getting royally stomped. so assets in highsec should be safe, so that people have a reason to continue playing, instead of quitting ebcause they lost everything and itll take 8 years to get back even close where they were.
