Apocrypha - content for everyone
Incursion - content for everyone
Buildable stargates - your alliance must be this big to ride. Only buildable in SOV space, whatever's behind them only accessible by those deemed worthy by SOV Holder. Pocket of space completely safe from any unauthorised entrance, for at least the time it takes to build a stargate there from the other side.

Here is an idea: everyone not part of one of the huge powerblocs can help Providence gather the resources to build one of these gates.

The gate will then be put somewhere in Providence and be open to all well meaning neutrals.

BoBwins Law: As a discussion/war between two large nullsec entities grows longer, the probability of one comparing the other to BoB aproaches near certainty.

Lol the difference between real deal and pipedream:

Pipedream: slick CGI video with big cinematic effects

Real Deal: High school audio/video club grade video with CCP Guard & co. in costumes, goofy sets, etc

The "Trailer" looks cool but don't see even a fraction of what it suggests coming to the game. It should be called "Fanfest 2014 Propaganda Reel"

This new gate looks suspiciously like a supergate to me - the type they built around the original EVE wormholes (if I remember my lore correctly).

I would love to see these gates lead Terran space, with some new NPC or other such in this space. I would also like to see story line around what happened in the past, and what happened on the Terran side of the gate after the eve gate collapsed.

Also, we still don't know WHY the original eve gate destroyed itself yet do we?

Perhaps we'll get a 5th playable race out the whole ordeal too, So many possibilities! So excited to see where all of this leads to!

Not to state the obvious, but I get the feeling there's a reason why industry is getting an overhaul for an expansion with a trailer about the creation of super-star/wormhole-gates by non-state entities.

Griiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiind. Also, is now a good time to join teh goons in order to get my 40 acres and a mule once the gate is built, preferably before membership prices increase from $10?

Just a little help:

10$ + 3 months of membership on SA, also you kind of have to be a reasonable member of the community (no not just waiting around until the time is up) and if you introduce yourself in the Eve-thread on SA as someone who joined just to become part of the Eve-Goons, you will be consumed by the fires of hell itself.

Now go ahead and join.

I don't see any point in stating the difference between a trailer and in-game audio/video experience. Every person with a basic understanding of technicalities should not expected one to match the other. On the other hand You certainly can't place A/V at "school" level.

As for the stargate building feature, the amount of resources, planning, logistics, time and security required for such a project (if proposed to the players) should and probably will be a multiplication of those utilized with titans hence only a couple of the most powerful alliances/coalitions will be able to deliver. This not only mirrors real life (which we all value so much in reference to other MMOs) but also drives more and more people in to PvP.

But those are just my speculations. We should wait patiently for more official info from CCP before making any more assumptions.

don't know about you but I'll be happy that only major alliances will be able to build gates...

Azathoth, Cthugha, Cthulhu, and its spawn will come through the gate to pose us a reality check; they are those who closed the Eve gate and now that we opened the pandora's box the war is coming.

IƤ! Cthulhu fhtagn!

Maybe that massive gate allows capital ships to move into new systems without or beyond cyno. Going by its size in the trailer and that a wrecked carrier drifts easily by it's opening (3.14), it is big enough.

I hope not, they need to make it harder for capitals to move around, not easier. Then maybe the smaller alliances would be able to stand a chance against the larger ones when they are defending their own space.

The problem is with this trailer is the same as every year's trailer. It's pure cinematic awesomeness, yet is so much different than the game. Not counting stargates (which will get added) here are all the things the trailer shows that we don't have yet in the game.

1. Meaningfu uses for Walking in Stations
2. Stations being used for DUST/Valkyrie players as well as EVE Players
3. That kickass effect as ships warp in.
4. Realistic ship damage (shields buffering, parts flying off, structures failing, etc)
5. Crashing ships into each other (probably not a good idea to implement in game, but still awesome)
6. EMP effects (before the gate fired all the ships "turned off")
7. DUST PLAYERS BOARDING SHIPS/STATIONS (probably the most anticipated feature that never came with DUST)
8. Probably more that I can't think of off the top of my head.

Watch_ Fred Fred Frederation_ and stop cryptozoologist! Fight against the brutal genocide of fictional creatures across New Eden! Is that a metaphor? Probably not, but the fru-fru- people will sure love it!

You're not thinking like an EVE player.

CCP Cabal: We need a plan in case the Blue Doughnut is completed and stagnates the game.
CCP Illuminati: Break up the alliance under the guise of a sov overhaul?
CCP NoogAtoN: No! All our hard.... errr, I mean, no. we cannot be seen as deus ex machina'ing the sandbox by arbitrarily destroying the hard work of our players.
CCP Tentacled Abomination: Ia! Ia! Cthulhu Fhtagn! Ia! Ia!
CCP Cabal: ..... what?
CCP Illuminati: I hate that guy, why do we keep him around?
CCP Samuel L Jackson: Engrish mother fornicator, do you speak it!?!
CCP Tentacled Abomination: Ph'nglui Mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!
CCP Cabal, CCP Illuminati, CCP Samuel L Jackson: /triple_facepalm
CCP Your Petition Will Be Answered In The Order It Is Received: Brilliant!
CCP Cabal, CCP Illuminati, CCP Samuel L Jackson: Eh?
CCP Your Petition Will Be Answered In The Order It Is Received: Cthulu is the answer.
CCP Cabal: And what, pray tell, is < interrupted >
CCP Tentacled Abomination: Ia! Ia! < interrupted >
CCP Cabal: No! Don't pray. Just tell us what the question is.
CCP Your Petition Will Be Answered In The Order It Is Received: It's simple. We allow the players to construct an EVE style mega wormhole stargate. We dangle the promise of new lands to explore and conquer.
CCP NoogAtoN: Fap, fap, fap.... errr... do go on.
CCP Samuel L Jackson: A super mother fornicating stargate! Which requires a super mother fornicating amount of resources to construct!
CCP Your Petition Will Be Answered In The Order It Is Received: < smiles > Exactly. We create a "space race" that hasn't been seen this side of the US/USSR cold war ...< moment of silence for the departed USSR >...
CCP Illuminati: which only the biggest, most organized alliance can win, i.e. the the alliance most capable of completing the Blue Doughnut.
CCP Tentacled Abomination: Ia! Ia! Ia! < gibberish and/or orgasm >
CCP Your Petition Will Be Answered In The Order It Is Received: And the first to construct the super < CCP SLJ: mother fornicating! > stargate opens a portal that allows Chtulu to come through and destroy that alliance.
CCP WoW: Why we could even rearrange the star map and physics of the EVE cluster. We could call it Cataclysm! Err.. I mean the Upsetting! Errr... we'll pick a name later.
CCP Moa: I will personally design the art for the EVE super < CCP SLJ: mother fornicating! > stargate.

< ALL >: Ia! Ia! Ia!

CCP NoogAtoN: < whispering into his wrist > Let PL win.... No I'm not crazy... Look I'll explain later.
CCP Tentacled Abomination: < sidling up to CCP NoogAtoN > I live, I think, and I read backwards...
CCP NoogAtoN: !elaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadsniD......*gurgle*

In the end of the trailer we see what effect a opening wormhole can have on the surrounding area. Now imagine the EVE Gate opening again and such a shock wave travelling through all of the cluster. It could even travel faster than light as it's not really material but a space/time distortion. Speaking of everything being destructible and running off to greener pastures where it's save.

This implies that Valkyrie is to be incorporated in Eve.

For a long time I wondered why we don't let players pilot the fighters and fighter-bombers and maybe that is going to change. It would certainly add quality to the carriers.

Good luck to CCP for this vision. I hope they pull it off.

Did you guys notice that at 2:20 the Valkyrie says "multiple bogies incoming, launching fighters"? Are Valkyries (as in the game, not the drone) more than fighters? Squad commanders?

I know I'm excited

*hype cap off*

I sure hope not.

Well I sure do, how about valkyrie pilots taking control of a flight of drones.

In theory, the new systems should have WH's appear in them. My guess is that you will use the wormholes to link the systems. Otherwise you will a) fly blind, b) have no want home till you gathered the resources, and c) can't expand till you gather resources. This means if its a one way trip you have to be sure you bring everything you need on the first trip.

Would make since to use wormholes to get to the next system to build your gate and link them. But i really am not sure how this will work
