Who do you think will have the first player gate built and operational? I'm not too familiar with the big alliances and there capabilities and I would like to hear your theories.

I think it will be between CFC and N3PL. A good old fashion space race, reminiscent of the USA and USSR. [I'll let you decide who is who.]

... hopes that when the silly thing is turned on, that the AOE to nearby ships is alot greater in destructive scope than the video suggests... if only for the LULZ. Blink

Just imagine you'd have to have a fleet on standby after turning the gate on because whatever is on the other side will come over and slam the door shut if you try to evade the AoE blast of the gate activation.

Kinda hoping that whoever finishes the gate first promptly loses a super fleet to whatever is on the other side.

There is nothing stopping all NPC corps members to race blue donut entities to build first stargate. Well, nothing except :effort:

The first time I have heard of player gates was over one year ago. Again more talk at fan fest with absolutely no substance. This is just smoke to keep people interested. Most importantly expansions are now gone and this to me means that eve has been put in maintenance mode. So keep dreaming. If you look at Dust, it was supposed to have monthly updates too... Given the WoD (World of Dust) on PC development and the WoV (World of Valkirie) with Face Book goggles now going on, I suspect you will keep getting more rebalancing that cost nothing and some repackaged stuff developed for these other games. So good luck to us.

I agree, ive been playing since 2003 but my first Eve Fest was only in 2008, I remember then they were talking about these sort of features including "Walking in stations" there is a lot of false promises in the game now which is a shame, these supergates, if there was such a thing planned there would have been a lot more information on them

Its again all propaganda, look at the 10 years Vet stations that was said in 2013 Eve Fest, still not happened not that I can see much use for them anyway

It might not be a conventional stargate though. The original EVE gate was a stable wormhole. This new type of gate could be a wormhole generator or something similar.
