Hey everyone, what are your thoughts on these two ships? Wondering which is better for roaming around null and trying to find some prey?

Stratios hands down!

I want the Pilgrim to be good, but it suffers from bad range on its neuts and compared to the dps of the Stratios, the Pilgrim falls by the wayside.

Stratios has lots of dps, bigger drone bay and cargo bay for extended operations and has the scanner bonus if you want to find people in sites or travel by wormholes. You can carry a 'Yurt' and refit, and there are plenty of fitting options.

Downside is cost, but hey - its worth it IMO.

I must agree. The strat wins in every category except gold plating.

Inferior drones, a very poor tank, neuts without a range bonus so you can't kite effectively, and so on. Not sure if they both get similar sensor delay though so pilg might have an edge there, but if so it is minute.

Pilgrim is cheaper and has better fitting, which basically works to make it even cheaper since you don't need to put faction stuff on it to make your fits work.

I like double Tracking Distruptors :)

But assuming you are solo then yes I say Stratios, I usually use my Pilgrim for small gang work only.

Pilgrims are cheap for a reason.

...but they aren't cheap enough for me to feel comfortable taking them into scram range every time I take a fight.

Stratios hands down. But...the pilgrim is still a good cloaky gank boat. You'll have to pick your targets more carefully though.

Pilgrim's only use is as a hood ornament for my Raven.

Stratios is very good for exploration.

Both are pointless once you get into a Legion.

Buy a Legion.

Is there a Legion fit similar to Stratios but better? Playing in EFT so far, and while it has better tank, I can't get the DPS numbers comparable (only half the drone bw). I can't get it cloaky AND drones at same time. And if I go cloaky gank, the dps still seems to be lacking...under 500, which is well lower than the stratios at 600+

The Stratios is actually one of the meanest things that can fit through a covert cyno. It can't match the tank of a fully bricked-out T3 and doesn't get cool options like nullification or ewar bonuses, but in terms of raw ability to hurt things it's bumping shoulders with combat Blops.

It sounds like the Strat is quickly becoming a low sector favorite for bashing your enemy.

I real on Battle Clinic that you actually lose DPS when using energy turrets yet gain DPS when using blasters. Is there any truth to this?

Also what about creating a build where the Strat becomes a long range drone support ship? It has more than enough slots to build a devastating Drone Carrier.

the only bonus the strat gets to guns is medium energy optimal. you should be seeing a dps increase with blasters

Pilgrim.

Yeah it might seem safer to use the Stratios, but my pilgrim has never let me down through the years.

The one point I will concede on the grim is its speed. or lack of it.

Dont get me wrong. I love the stratios, and having Ranged can be great for a a great number of fights, thats probably I also have one fitted for PvP.

But for now, I truly rely on my pilgrim and the ability that lil ship has to pull out of ****** situations on top.

*It also makes for a mean hero tackling ship, albeit expensive.*

I'd take 30km range over the increased DPS of blasters, the main problem is the Stratios doesn't have the fitting for Heavy Pulse or Neutrons. Ions offer still great DPS for a huge reduction in fitting, but Focused Medium Pulse just suck.

Counterpoint: when you can do 600 DPS with Gardes and have a pretty unimpressive gun bonus, you can basically think of all your highs as utility highs that can also do a little damage.

Stratios.

The pilgrims terrible dps and extremelly limited target selection makes it quite inferior. I never really understood why people think its good.
