... specifically while we wait for all the new mining stuff they've been promising us for awhile.

Deployable structure that mines nearby asteroids and occasionally spews out resources.

It could have fairly low skill requirements and would act as an additional income source for people wanting to be a little more active.

The spew is optional and I'd make it less frequent or crazy than the current one for exploration, but mining needs an optional active component. Key parts being optional and active.

There are way better ideas out there than this, but this is something they could fairly easily put together since almost all the pieces are already in place. It's just a matter of putting them together.

Would the player need to be in the same proximity, or would this be like P.I.?

I used to play X3 before recently switching, and I sometimes miss all of the income multiplication from a fleet of intelligent A.I. controlled trading ships and complexes. Sadly EVE is not that kind of game, and I don't think this will be looked upon very sympathetically.

Arguably P.I. allows for the same kind of investment and passive income generation, but at least there is the concept of DUST integration.

Deployable structures for mining belt farming, especially low cost low skill, would I think suit null sec better than high sec.

Also, arguably, having Mining Drones is a form of optional and active mining buff. Maybe a compromise and suggest T3 Mining Drones or a larger more capable A.I. mining bot linked to the mining barge/exhumer/orca? At least the player would have to be nearby, so not as destablising as remote passive income generation.

CODE. work long hours for low pay to make mining more interesting for you all.

Money at its root is a form of rationing. When the richest 85 people have as much wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion (50% of humanity) it is clear where the source of poverty is. http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/jan/20/trickle-down-economics-broken-promise-richest-85

Given that it would be using the spew mechanic, it would be active and not passive. The idea is to create more active activity. So you could be mining and while you're mining these structures would be spewing clickable objects that you could click on and it would increase your overall yield slightly. Active component while doing what miners are already doing.

The spew mechanic is being killed (last I heard) for Data/Relic sites already, and for damn good reason. It's a stupid mechanic that needs to die and be completely forgotten.

I hadn't heard that. I'm curious where you heard it yourself as I'd love to know if it's really and truly going away. When I was thinking of this I was thinking of something much slower and with a longer period of time to get it. It wouldn't be the carpel tunnel inducing version that we're currently suffering through.

Its going away, was said a long while back by a Dev for thsi summer release.

frankly I wish the minigame woudl go away too, because its annoying and does nothing but make me spend more time unable to cloak in hostile space, with my reward for surviving an attempted gank to eb watching that 1 out of 100 can actually worth hackling blow up because I already failed once because of 8 adjacent regen nodes.

Though if theyr eally wanted to fix data/relic theyd make interfaces consumable instead of reapirable, since right now Datas arent even worth running, as the interfaces lose you money in production and sale
