CCP just kill Star Citizen. Good job guys can 't wait to play legion.

Please explain how exactly? Does this legion have spaceship dogfighting and 150 detailed worlds you can land on and walk upon? Does it have zero-g firefights and ship boarding. Nope. Don't think so.

Neither does Star Citizen.

I can venture a guess which one is more likely to be playable first however.

Yikes! DUST forums are even scarier than EVE forums. Shocked

I don't blame them. Some of us actually purchased all the BPOs and stuff in Beta. That was real cash going out for what CCP promised would be EvE-like perpetual development and eventual melding of the markets. Now not only is CCP reneging on that promise, it looks like the game is not even in development anymore. There will never be a link. The servers will shut down and whatever was purchased is just wiped. CCP isn't even communicating with the DUST players at this point. Nothin'.

Now people who bought things within the last 3 months have figured out they can call up Sony and get a refund if they threaten a charge-back. many are. It's a real mess. Too bad I bought my stuff so long ago... I wish I could at least get refunded in PLEX but that probably won't happen.

DUST players just got burned. Meh. You can go read their forums and watch the debacle. Threads are getting deleted, though (not just locked). Be careful. Don't get caught up in the vitriol... people are getting banned. Just watch a community melt down.

That is really sad. One of the upshots for Eve was that Dust might be a gateway into spaceships for players who were interested in the Eve universe but hesitant to take the plunge on spreadsheets in space.

Dust 514 was a complete failure. None of it's lofty goals were reached in it's nearly year of release. CCP demonstrated quite clearly that they are incapable of making/balancing a FPS, console or not. You should not waste your time or money on LEGION... It won't be good, and you WILL be lied to.

That's one way to look at it... another would be: CCP has learned from the mistakes they made with DUST and know what they are doing now. I mean, it might be a bummer for the people that really enjoyed DUST, but essentially, in a way, the game may just have been a long beta test for what is to come...

Be that as it may, from what can see right now, Legion looks promising enough... at the very least it has a solid graphics engine now.

I played Dust for about three days when it hit beta. I never picked it up again. Poor design, lack of meanful EVE interaction, bad balance, poor performance. I was personally disappointed when I was told it was coming out on PS3. I gave it a bit of a trial and was only reinforced in my opinion that it would not be a good game. I don't know a single EVE player that has particpated or cared about Dust or it's limited options for EVE interaction.

I am not convinced it will be a successful PC game either until they can make it interact meaningfully with EVE. In terms of EVE, nobody cares about Dust and there is no reason to.

Who every really believed DUST would be successful anyways... I mean, seriously: A free2play FPS explusive to a (soon to be) dying console? Who thought that was a good iea? Who would invest in something like that?

I suppose I did.

My hope was that it would eventually shift across to the PS4, gain traction and popularity, true connection to EVE Online and then it'd be ported to PC and merge into one game. Or at least launch from the same login screen.

Wasn't that always CCP's vision?

It's now apparent the logical reason is to build it for the Master Race and THEN try porting it to other platforms.

Yes, the only way to go, if dust can be in the state of what the EVE Universe is truly about. It's delicate complexity, depth, scale and deep backstory and lore all this would never ever be accomplished in any way on a console (PS3, PS4). The complications, limitations and no freedom would eventually come even for PS4. Finally

Excited for this so much, so happy.

I dont think its so much about Dust coming to PC thats pissing the players off over there so much as its the fact that CCP has flat out promised to deliver massive updates and fixes to the game and instead now chooses to move it to PC and leave them....in the dust ha puns...but either way I can understand their frustration, they have every right to be pissed. I didn't call all you QQs firing on the jita statue a bunch of whining babies or state "Still not caring" The sad fact is the eve community has never truly accepted the dust community and it is precisely BECAUSE its on PS3 and not PC. From our perspective...we are quite accustomed to CCP promising **** and screwing us over, but they aren't. Sooo with that being said, Im glad they are passionate about the situation.

All of you who are expecting legion to be pretty much a planetside version of EVE may be getting your hopes up though. We have seen CCP's trend in developing FPS games...taken Dust into consideration they are 0 for 1. I cant imagine that changing much simply because it is on a PC instead of console. To be honest, I really don't have high expectations for legion. Yeah it looks cool, but I doubt it will ever be what everyone is expecting it to be. Could be wrong, only time will tell. To be honest though I really didnt want a PC version. EVE was unique because it is the only game in this universe that does exist on PC, Dust was unique because it was the only game in this universe that existed on consoles. Now its just going to be two similar games on PC instead :/ kind of diminishes both games' uniqueness and it is or that very uniqueness that I fell in love with eve in the first place.

Legion is nothing more than a grandeous marketing campaign, over it free to play to everyone and if they dont play eve they see it and go ok, its on pc im already on pc so ill try it *cha-ching* ccp made a sale. Whereas if its just dust on ps3, a console player isnt going to go out and spend money for a computer to buy a game to play. I think CCP realized they would never be able to market EVE through a console and it is for that very reason alone they chose to switch to PC.

When you look at the massive sales for micro-trans they ran prior to fanfest for Dust, they really were trying to milk every dollar they could before dropping the bomb, that alone shows that CCP has lost touch with its playerbase and has becomes nothing more than a business hellbent on profit. Which is unusual considering EVE was never created for profit, it was originally designed to prove it could be and exist. CCP is walking a dangerous line here of looking as bad as Blizzard in terms of pure profit making over quality of game play. At least blizz GMs open a chat with you and discuss the issue...ive yet to get a live chat from a CCP GM haha

Hi, I play eve a little, I'm not very good at it but I love the universe and love the idea of dust and of course playing it. For the past year I have been playing and really enjoying dust so I thought I might comment here about some of the reasons behind the waterfall of tears that is now the dust forums.

First and foremost they could have let us down a little easier, they went straight for the sucker punch to the nuts at the "dust" key note. They haven't given us any information about this at all, we (the dust community) were hopping for the best. We were looking for a lot of the stuff CCP had said would come (market, pve, vehicle parity etc) since we were all assuming the 10 year road map for dust was still in existence. Instead we were met with "hey here is all that stuff you wanted but in a completely different game! Also you need a PC...oh and your game is now dead. Thanks for coming!" Straight
Its pretty clear the shanghai team was working on this instead of working on dust, which hurts a lot if you were a dust merc hoping for this stuff for seven months and paid money to see it happen.

Character transfer: notice how they didn't mention anything? Imagine if all your progress in eve was threatened by the next expansion! We have been building skill points for Over a year and now it may have been for nothing...ouch... For those of you who don't know, you have to work for skill points in dust, its not passive (although you do get one skill point passively every 3 seconds) you have to grind for weeks to get something to lvl 4-5. Loosing a years worth of progress, and we are being told this at fan fest?! Da fak?!

Subscription? If they change it to a subscription model from the current F2P then we are talking about a 90-95% loss of the current dust playerbase. While there are only a few of us (3000 or so) that's pretty staggering. The general consensus is "I'm not giving CCP another F*****" dollar" and frankly I agree. I would be okay with a bundle, 15 bucks for eve AND legion per month but that's the only way.

Personally I hate shooters on PC, I hate the key board and mouse controls and the internet community (tf2, need I say more?) I hate how some people have better rigs than others so it runs better for them while others have to struggle just to move. I think it would be much better on a console, not the ps3 but the ps4. A lot of mercs were looking into gettingba next gen console anyway, which is much much cheaper than building or buying a good rig to run legion.

This is the key note of why a lot of dust mercs are hurt, I know I am, and why a lot of us feel used and empty inside. Dust is an amazing game and a lot of mercs will have trouble finding one as good. For now it looks like they are moving on to destiny and the devision, it seems they are now completely put off of CCP and will spread that to the console community. CCP seems to have burned the Sony bridge and console bridge in one swoop.
