If I witness a wormhole spawn and I know it lasts 24 hours baring mass collapse will it despawn at the same time the next day or does server downtime cause the timing to be displaced by an equal ammount?

Downtime doesn't trigger a de-spawn, the timer does. The timer is not a set 24hrs, if you read the descriptions, it says "within the next 24 hrs" or something to that effect. I think the previous post is suggesting very succintly that it's 24hrs +/- 10%.

You're young, you'll adjust. I'm old, I'll get used to it.

It's been a long time since I let a hole close on its own, but when I lived in a C5>C3, it was a 16 hr wormhole and they lasted pretty darn close to that 16-hr mark, paused during down-time.

The 10% variance applies to mass only I believe, not the lifespan of the wormhole, so the longest a wormhole can last is 24 hours, hence the "Less than 24-hours" message, since even if you spawn it, it's already at 23:59.

From what I have observed from people using my Tripwire tool is that the 10% life deviation only seems to apply to the last hour of the life and that server downtime does not affect it.

So a 16 hour max life wormhole can last between 15:54 and 16:06 rather then 15:57 and 16:03.
