What makes you think Legion is going to be any dif?

I wont wait 3-5years to find out lol.

especially since now, to make legion even have a chance, theyll be fighting AGAINST the old DUST players who will be trying to drag CCP down to hell with them the entire way.

next year, For CCP's sake, if there arent character transfers or soemthign very similar from DUST to legion, theyll need to check the prior history of everyone attending fanfest, cause everyone knows theres little more vindictive than EVE players (im beign generous and calling DUST, EVE)

DO we know if the "Hold on while I tab to my EVE guy for a bombardement." thing they didn't want in the first place will be a thing?

Hu... I guess not. I mean, Legion will be connected to EVE in some way, but I recon it will be not like that.

Dust 514 was a complete failure. None of it's lofty goals were reached in it's nearly year of release. CCP demonstrated quite clearly that they are incapable of making/balancing a FPS, console or not. You should not waste your time or money on LEGION... It won't be good, and you WILL be lied to.

They got us to pay for AURUM in a beta test for a different game they had going. Why wouldn't we be a bit mad?

Nobody enjoyed dust. The player base stuck around for the community and the promises. Now both are SHATTERED.

That's one way to look at it... another would be: CCP has learned from the mistakes they made with DUST and know what they are doing now. I mean, it might be a bummer for the people that really enjoyed DUST, but essentially, in a way, the game may just have been a long beta test for what is to come...

Be that as it may, from what can see right now, Legion looks promising enough... at the very least it has a solid graphics engine now.

They repeatedly made the same mistakes over dust's development cycle. The would make a long range weapon overpowered, nerf it into the ground and then make a new even more overpowered long range weapon.

They would introduce a bug, fix it, then reintroduce it again over and over and over.

They were incapable of making a link between dust and eve that actually mattered for both sides.

None of the things they promised ever actually happened. They lied to us. How long have they planned on doing legion?

The fact that it is pretty looking changes nothing. Dust's failures were fundamentally in game design and execution. You should expect no different from the LEGION team (same guys, I am pretty sure).

When I get Dust on my PC I use this little vacuum cleaner. It's just the right size.

Eve is a virtual sandbox that primarily involves spaceships, but isn't limited to.

For all the PR nightmare it has caused both at its inception and now its demise it's sad to see DUST put on notice quite so soon, barely a year since release seems far too short for all that drama.

That said I for one am glad that we're finally getting something for the PC, I will keep an eye on Legion in the hope that at the very least we get a decent FPS which can be properly integrated into the Eve universe, and even maybe finally a worthy successor to the original Planetside.

I'm sure they were perfectly capable, The problem was the shitstorm that would have been created were they to make such a link. DUST being a PS4 exclusive could never realistically have a meaningful impact on EVE as long as the majority of the PC using EVE playerbase were locked out.

So where was the Dust514 content on the Dust514 keynote? I havent found anything apart from "yeah guys thanks for attention we just gonna ditch the PS3". And about the Eve/Dust is dying line:

better dieing as beeing aborted all together like WoD.

True, but to of the biggest problems DUST had/has/always will have are: It's on the PS3 and has a horrible engine... two problems the PC version will not have.

Also: Yea, EVE is about spaceships, but only because CCP hasn't figured out how to make it about anything else yet. Blink

True enough. We can also realistically expect better from the same guys. People learn from mistakes and improve, so while they might not be able to re-mold it to the best FPS ever, it'll likely be a much better and more polished version of the same concept. The butt hurt of Dusties might make them too irrational to take a calm look at the situation though. Yes what a corporation told to you in their marketing speeches didn't translate in to reality. It sucks, but unless DUST was your first ever online game, it shouldn't come to you as a surprise.

On the twitch feed (when they were attempting to run damage control) they asked for our feedback.

Giving your feedback on the dust boards gets your post deleted and your account banned at the moment.
It has clearly become an issue of censoring dissent, a few questions that CCP needs to answer...

A simple question though:
How long has CCP known that they were going to be scrapping dust for legion?
Is it proper that they continued to accept payment for aurum and SP boosters, while only "maybe" being able to move characters to the next iteration?

They decided to run an event this week. In the event, you got bonus SP for using a AURUM suit. Is it proper that they ran this event just days before they announced that they were scrapping the project to work on Legion, and that they weren't sure if they would be able to transfer characters across the platforms?

For a little perspective, the video you saw was a minor reworking of an existing Dust map section. The models were most likely existing elements, as they already had to be downsampled for the PS3.

Dust being as bad as it was was not merely due to the engine choice. The visuals just could not serve as enough of a coat of gloss for the awful game design underneath. The team in Shanghai has so far shown a distinct refusal to come to grips with core FPS balance mechanics, and there is no indication that they are even close to understanding that.

When Legion is "launched" I hope it goes better than Uprising 1.0.

Please explain how exactly? Does this legion have spaceship dogfighting and 150 detailed worlds you can land on and walk upon? Does it have zero-g firefights and ship boarding. Nope. Don't think so.
