Carriers Changes

Currently carriers provide way to much possibilities :
- they can provide capital level logistic capabilities ( including maxing them out while in triage )
- they can do all kind of drone dps ( light , medium , sentry , fightes , etc)
- they can carry 10k of modules
- they can carry 1 mln of ships

They are universal item when you want to do something.

My suggestion is very simple.
Lets split current carriers to two different ship groups , and at the same time make dream of some higsec players come true.

Current carriers will keep all their capabilities except ability to haul 1 mln m3 of ships - this item will be pulled out to separate ship class.

The new - ship hauling - carrier will have limited slots , both high slots , and low slots.
Will be able to travel in higsec , and at the same time it will be to use jump drive - but this module will be a separate module placed in low slot.

No this will be not OP for logistic purposes.
1 Carrier can carry 2 fitted battleships, and a JF can carry 6 packaged battleships with all modules.

Lets hope that this split will also change current state of the nullsec.

-They are difficult to use safely.
-If you fly one, people want to kill you.
-A carrier can't kill stuff on it's own
-They can only hold 10k of modules (not 20k) and most of that is normally spare fuel.
-They can only hold 2x BS sized ships, which with few exceptions, are not useful on the battlefield.

Go back to highsec please.

So PL member say that Carriers:
- They are difficult to use safely.
- If you fly one, people want to kill you.
- A carrier can't kill stuff on it's own
- They can only hold 2x BS sized ships, which with few exceptions, are not useful on the battlefield.

Lol

This is again "buying CSM Votes" / persuading renters to kill some thread?

You are kidding right?
Yes this suggestion is to increase cost , and make more difficult to deploy for large bloobs.

If CCP will think about this kind of split then blobs will have to spend at least :
TWICE as much to relocate their forces.

You will be not able to haul in your carrier pack of AHAC/Tech3 ships , you will have to use few alts in different carriers / and or pod - jump back to make second run.

This will cost you more , like any other player.

Yes this change include supers , so ccp have to limit their internal space or remove it also.

I dont think a ship with 10-15 drones is likely to happen in highsec.

Where did i put this ?

We are splitting carrier to 2 different ships.
One have logistic capability , can deploy drones etc.

Second can haul ships , and also have jump drive - that it.
He cannot rep, he cannot fight , some tank or cap fit - nothing more.

This is what carriers were doing that got JFs made. This is a JF.

So without going all metaphysical on "carrier without planes", basically you want a t2 orca with a jump drive and without mining ganglink bonuses, no?

EDIT: just realized, highsec rorqual without compression and mining bonuses

I want to split current carrier combat/logistic/Ship Hauling capabilities to 2 ships:

1 Combat/logistics
2 Ship Hauling

Yes you can say that this will be some kind of orca without mining bonuses and ore bays, but with jump drives.

No they will not takeover Jump Freighter role.

JF have around 320k m3
This ship hauling carrier will have 700-800m3

You will be able still to carry way more packaged ships and their fits in Jump Freighter , rather than in this Carrier , as all ships will have to be Assembled.

For example - 2 battleships in this carrier , or 6 battleships and their fit in Jump Freighter.
Smaller ships are increasing this difference even more.

This change no one will like - question is will limit this the nature of blobs - as this is the only goal for this change.
Force bloobs to pay way more if they want to deploy on the other side of eve , way, way more.

Sorry, im having trouble finding out what you want to achieve.
A highsec mobile home?
Nerf carriers because a 1mm3 bay?
Ability to transport your 2 fitted bs at once?

This will not be mobile higsec home, if the only "higsec" hauler is the thing that will block this change - it can be removed.
Still without ability to haul Ships AND stuff this will not be your higsec home.

Again this idea is only to escalate COSTS for big bloobs.
Now it is way to easy to deploy from one edge of the eve to another one in just one carrier carrying ships for base setups.

Battleships where just an example , people are using T2/Ahacs/Tech 3 ships , and you can carry way more of them.

If CCP will make this split deployment operation will be much more costly if you want to have BOTH - carriers AND sub capitals.

You will have to pay TWICE as much for fuel, use alts or pod/jumpclone to make next "carrier" run.

Try to put combat ships to ronqual.

[quote]Due to its specialization towards industrial operations, its ship maintenance bay is able to accommodate only industrial ships, mining barges and their tech 2 variants

Ronqual have also big cargo bays , and this ship hauling carrier will don't have any.

Remove their ability to store isotopes in fleet hangars.

I am currently away, traveling through time and will be returning last week.

This wont change any thing.
Just ronqual jumping and filling capitals all the way, or using stations / poses that have fuel.

Consider me less a PL guy, and more a guy that's been flying and killing carriers since 2007. Did you miss they just increased capital jump fuel consumption by 50%, or can you not read?

What you are suggesting will not increase cost at all. It will merely mean people buy one more ship and move with that instead. Please think before you post. And then just don't post.

Read again, im aware of this.
Bloob have timer 50LY away.
They pack up doctrine ships to ship bay, and jump to destination.

What they can deploy?
- Probably some Ahac
- Tech 3
- Battleship maybe
- Slowcat / triage - as they came in carriers

After the change they will have to make another trip to bring a combat capable carrier.
This will be twice amount of fuel needed for the same doctrine set.

This is only to escalate cost for people that don't live in area.

If someone want to move, take space and live there - cost will be much smaller when compared to a people that stage not few systems but few regions away.

Especially when those people will have other timer soon, again few sectors away.

And for this we need another ship class? And attempts to popularise it for carebears with the vision of a RV with jump drive?
