Exactly the same -- as soon as I hit vacuum the GUI froze. Also, ping times on another machine went through the roof when this happened.

Also running 10.7.5 -- possible connection?

Could you try disabling the audio and see if the issue persists? It would be helpful to know if disabling the audio helps with this issue.

I've just re-enabled my account after a 10 month gap, mostly for this making the game unplayable.

within minutes it's happening again, full client freeze with the audio from the last half second or so on loop.

happens in space mostly, but has happened in station.

tried with audio disabled and the issue persists.

Got my first freeze in well over a month. Three clients running, and the Orca froze. I was still able to fill its fleet hangar though. Once it was full, I had to force quit that client and re-log.

I freeze upwards to a couple times a day. I haven't yet disabled my audio in a test, as I can go hours without anything happening anyway. That will be my next thing to try.

I did find the following in Console:
Quote:
5/5/14 11:33:40.863 AM WindowServer[90]: MPAccessSurfaceForDisplayDevice: Set up page flip mode on display 0x04280300 device: 0x7fe949f064f0 isBackBuffered: 1 numComp: 3 numDisp: 3
5/5/14 11:33:41.117 AM WindowServer[90]: Display 0x4280300 released by conn 0x1681b
5/5/14 11:33:43.764 AM loginwindow[42]: ERROR | -[Application hardKill:] | Application hardKill returned -600
There is nothing else of note listed in Console at that time.

My computer:
  • Mid-2011 21.5" iMac
  • AMD Radeon HD 6770M 512 MB
  • 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5
  • 4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
  • Mac OS X 10.9.3 (13D45a) (this occurred in previous versions at roughly the same frequency as well)

In recent time I've only locked up once while in space, if I recall correctly. That was in Frarn. The issue occurs otherwise entirely while docked in Rens.

Edit after testing:
With the sound off, there is no improvement. In fact, I managed to freeze twice in just a few minutes, which was new.

The Console output is the same as quoted above.

I have frozen (UI freeze and actual game freeze) about 10 times within a 3 hour period.

100% guarantee if I try to disable the sound. The game locks up and I have to force quit. Does it EVERY time. Have done it 3 times. Each time I was docked and not doing anything else. iTunes was in the background NOT playing. That was the only other app I had open.

UI Freezes. Before it was a 100% guarantee from CMD + Tabbing. Now it is random if I CMD + Tab. Not always will the UI freeze. Opening the fitting screen and leaving it open longer than 5 mins or so will freeze the UI. But this is also random. I have a higher chance with it freezing but still not 100%. Also when jumping gates, or warping to gates freezes the UI for me. But this is random and not as often. Also each time the UI freezes I don't get any error, or bug report or anything. Just freeze and force quit. Relaunch and it "works" until it freezes again.

Also the game's sound does not work sometimes after a UI freeze up. The game works fine minus the sound. In the game its enabled but the game sound does not work. its like its muted and over rides anything I try.

I hope this helps you solve this issue that does not allow me to do anything other than go from station to station.

More testing has been done.

I turned my sound back on, but I realised that I've been flying for ages now with world volume turned off. I turned it back on, then proceeded to freeze nearly a dozen times during the gaming session, of which four were during a single hour.

Several of my freezes happened while I was tabbed out as well.

I can't... I can't do this anymore.

Today a new UI freeze. I was roaming and the UI just froze when I arrived at a destination... in space! So now, not only can I not fit my ships without the risk of freezing, but now I can't even roam without the risk of freezing. What is the point then?!?

CCP this is stupid. When I left 4 years ago, the Mac client was pretty stable. Now I come back and it's worse!!

I am just going to have to head over to my PC side until CCP is able to "replicate" our issue without thinking we are all full of it.

Just when I was getting to feel comfortable with the game once more...

From what I gather, not until CCP can fully duplicate our issues, there is nothing they can do. In order to fix the issue they need to see the issue on their end, then fix the code that is messing up. So far... we are playing the waiting game.

The best thing we can do is to keep submitting reports as to..

-What you where doing when it happened
-What was in your background
-Your mac specs
-Any log reports can you post
-And anything else that can help them repeat the freeze

Not all of us have patience to do this over and over, but if you want to, you can keep posting.

Hello,
I too am experiencing the same issues as others - constant freezing of the game client. Imagine my disappointment after changing from PC to a Mac and finding that I will not be able to play EVE normally (or at all) What?. I have spent few days observing the conditions and my actions that lead to these freezes. Below are some facts that I have noticed about this issue.

How it freezes - game client (or is it UI) stops responding, first everything freezes, than after a few seconds sound begins to stutter (though not every time, sometimes game freezes and sound disappears completely).

When it freezes - the thing that upsets me the most - there are no apparent consistency to it. During these few days i froze pretty much everywhere - while mining, warping, approaching jump gate, docked, in an open map window, fitting screen and etc. Thus I can't even imagine what I do to cause freezes or even if my actions are that causes them.

Game client starts normally, updates via launcher, game loads normally (though just before Logging screen, while in completely black screen, an "eco of a desktop" (for the lack of better words to describe it) flashes for an instant), and everything seems to be ok, until ... it freezes. There were no difficulties to force quit, I use this every time I freeze. Launch game - play 5-30 min (sometimes even more) - freeze - force quit - repeat.

Steps to avoid freezing - having read all post regarding this longstanding issue I've tried several recommended things - to no effect.
I tried disabling sound, lowest graphics settings, shader settings (high to low), cleaning cash, quitting all programmes in the background - nothing helped.

I hope (and I know that hope is waisted on the hopeless) that this account of my experience and actions would help in some way. I do look forward to the new Kronos expansion.

I am running the latest software and hardware for EVE and my iMac.

iMac, 27-inch, Late 2013
Processor 3,5 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M 4096 MB
Software OS X 10.9.2

Regards
Quetz

P.S. If there is anything that we can do to help - Developers - please let us know. Maybe there is any monitoring utility we can run while playing EVE to determine the cause of these freezes? I am sure it has been said a thousand times - but I feel that we would do pretty much anything to help you with it.

Macbook Pro i7 here.

I had been maybe having one freeze every two days until CCP released this latest patch that contained 'Fixes for crashing on Macintosh'. Now I can't get by more than 2 hours without a freeze. I keep my launcher open and can typically get back to the game in under a minute, but it's really annoying.

Hi, today was the day of the mass test on Singularity. Amongst other changes, there seems to be a few addressing most pressing issues for the Mac users.
I was there and I can say one thing - the stuff is promising. For the whole duration of the mass test, extremely low FPS, and a huge battle client was steady and stable (not counting the dead node thingy of course). So for at least 2 hours of gameplay in some serious conditions - no freezes, bugs or other irregularities were present. And that is a lot as I am unable to play for more than 15 minutes without freezing. And yes - the blinking lights are on Blink

I can't wait for these changes to go live in Tranquility. The future is bright :)

I still get this.

Every time I leave the Station the Client freezes and I have to Force Quit.

This does not happen with the Windows Client on my laptop, only with the Mac Client on my iMac.

Please, please fix this Cry

I'm having problems as well with my late 2013 MBP. I can at most jump 2 systems before freezing up and having to force quit. Specs:

  • Processor 2 GHz Intel Core i7
  • Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
  • Graphics Intel Iris Pro
  • Software OS X 10.9.3 (13D65)

Tried lowering graphical settings, turning off sound. Nothing happens.

Nothing changed so far for me either. Waiting for the Kronos expansion to come and hoping everything will be ok. Otherwise I will be forced to rethink my subscription - I can't play anyway. At least training queue can be filled up to 21 days of training. But one can only go so far.

I'm getting this too. Constantly freezing. I play in windowed mode but always have to force quit via Activity Monitor. Freezes literally 60 seconds max after launching.

System Specs:

Mavericks OSX Version 10.9.3
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000

I have all the latest software updates for my system. Completely unusable at the moment.
