Hello there fellow capsuleers!

I tried low sec explo (data/relic sites) i found it quite fun to seek such treasure in the depths of New Eden, however the low security space is definately not for me, at least not yet.

I am seeking a new method for make a living and plex my character, i'm on a trial account at the moment, and i've seen good ammount of money made by the method mentioned in the title.

But however it was not on a trial account and it was made by Tech 2 ships, shich is not quite reachable for me at this point.

My question is can a you do highsec combat exploration (DED even) with a trial account "effectively"?
Also how can you scan DED sites? Are they mentioned like combat sites?

I've looked up a bunch of guides, but none of them was use to me. That's why i'm here.

So please help me out a bit guys.

DED sites are scannable sites (like data/relic). They will say "combat" when you scan them down and when warped to you'll get a pop-up which says DED and tells you the level (3/10, 4/10 etc.).

In high sec you'll find 1/10 (easiest) through 4/10 (hardest) sites, as well as "unrated" sites which vary with approximately the same difficulty.

As for ships to run them in, the 4/10s do a fair bit of dps. You can run them in a well tanked t1 battlecruiser with some patience, but I prefer range tanking. I ripped a range-tanked caracal fit straight from these forums from some kind soul who I can't remember (Tau? was it you? Someone claim credit!) It was able to run up to 4/10s with average skills, albeit a bit slowly.

Highs: Heavy missiles
Medium: MWD, sensor booster, light shield tank, target painter
Lows: Nanofibers, ballistic control units
Rigs: Missile range rigs

It can lock/hit out to about 90 km which is PLENTY to completely avoid damage from any of the sites (assuming you can get to that range). The main revenue from these type of sites comes in the form of faction spawns. Google the name of the site and you should be able to find info on triggers and faction spawns. This will help you know what wrecks to loot. I tend to stick to 3/10 and 4/10 since they have the best loot. Faction EANMs dropping from 4/10s will generally net you about 150 mil each. Like other forms of exploration, there's no guarantee. Sometimes nothing drops, somethings you get a big payout.

Yeah i know RNGesus is present in this game big time :D Maybe i'll give a try with my other char. Honest opinion about plexing a trial account? Can you do it without a big knowledge of the game? (I have an extender code which i bought earlier from GMG.)
But i don't want to spend on a character which hasn't made much profit, and hasin't been skilled towards what i want to do in the game.

It is possible to PLEX a character without extensive foreknowledge but will not be fun.

Plexing a new account is too much work compared to the price of a single month of sub. The whole idea is that you stay subbed for a couple of months, before PLEXing your account becomes less of a drain on your mental health. It´s a lot easier to make ISK for a PLEX once you have some basic skilling done. Even then, it´s a chore better done in real life.

A single day at work would net me that sub money or a PLEX a couple of times over. The best course of action is to get an IRL job and just subscribe. I use the annual plan which saves some money, if you end up liking the game a single annual sub would train up your character to a point where making the ISK for a PLEX is a more sensible option.

You can do the easier sites (up to 3/10) just fine in a destroyer on low SP and you can make a lot of money with those. Talwar, Corax, Dragoon and Algos are all great for this.

Oh and as for how to actually make a PLEX in the first 14 days: Join a corporation, and hold their expensive ships ransom in a ship they cannot effectively apply damage to. Use a destroyer or cruiser if against a mining ship; use a frigate with nosferatus (capacitor drainers) if attacking a battleship.

Then honor your ransom, join a new corp, and rinse, repeat until you have enough to buy a PLEX.

With low skills and high competition in highsec, you will probably spend over 70hours trying to get that game time for "free". It's not fun. I don't understand why people get into this trap of playing to play for free (and then ultimately quitting on the second month from burnout) when there's loads of things you could be doing that are fun, for what amounts to being a low subscription price. Remember the base game is free, so 2 or 3 months of subscription only takes you to the value of any other new title.
Another point to consider - whilst you're grinding out the PLEX each month, you are setting yourself out ~720mil of ingame assets you would otherwise have, meaning any in-game setbacks are going to hurt a lot more.

You will struggle like hell to complete 3/10s in a destroyer with low SP unless you know exactly what you are doing, and even then you will get unlucky. With low SP you really need a decently tanked cruiser to do them.

No, not at all. a Talwar or Corax can do it by kiting them, it works just fine. Here's a Talwar fit tanked for Angels that any week old char can use and make work. Sure you'll have to be careful but it it's not like it requires an IQ of 150 to operate.

Something similar works just fine with a Corax as well, just make sure you tank the right damage type.

This is sometimes easier said than done. As a new player manually piloting is not intuitive. Figuring out which ships are easy, figuring out whether corp mates will gang up before the ransom can be honored...

It's easy for experienced players to gauge the 'bling' level of a ship, the aptitude of the pilot, and the overall ability of a corporation. It's also easier for an older player to figure out how to make a pvp effective 900k SP PVP pilot than a brand new player (900k is random, 250k, 500k, 1 mil, whatever). Picking the right skills, the right ships, the right corp. These are obvious to long time players, and not to younger players.

If you go this route, I suggest you get a mentor. Not me, as this is not my cup of tea, but a mentor none the less.

It is in some ways easier for a newbie to infiltrate a corp with the intention of espionage or theft since the genuine confusion and newbie questions will encourage some players to lower their guard.
