Look forward to seeing you out there.

Ok, so <=81 is now the line between blob and gf?

Just saying its significantly lower than what Sky Fighters was (250ish I believe?)

Its the first thing I look at, I mean, if you have a corp of 250 people its pretty much guaranteed that you have a significant number of people online at the majority of times compared to, in this case, a 81 member corp. There are always groups that don't always field max possible numbers, always exceptions, but generally corp size is a good factor in how many people they have near by and ready.

Cool, but what is the size you consider a blob?

The term is usually used for any fleet lager than the toon calling it a 'blob' could field. I'm just curious which definition of 'blob' you are choosing to use.

Off the top of my head.. idk.. 3:1 numerical advantage?

But everything is relative, I can't stop people from whoring in on a shiny Marauder, and if there are capitals to kill all bets are off :)

Depends on perspective. In general, getting blobbed starts when your fleet fits into one squad and you got to scroll your overview to glance over all hostiles. So the general wh-gang considers anything with an SSC-ticker a blob, cause you very likely got to scroll.

so you consider a 'blob' a ratio?

Let me know if this makes sense "I was soloing a gas site, then a blob of 3 frigates jumped me"

I assumed we were talking about fights not ganks here.

And yes, I consider a blob a ratio because that's what blob refers to: numbers of a fleet compared to another. If another fleet outnumbers one to such a degree that they have no chance then they got blobed.

As an aside this is why I never refer to Null Sec as blob warfare (although there is definitely that happening as well), I prefer F1 or Lag Warfare.

No WH group of 250 is close to that in unique numbers of people

Bare minimum you can expect 50 percent of that to be alts............Usually more.

If we want to be honest, there really isn't a solid definition for 'blob'. Who ever is more butthurt about losing feels the other side 'blobbed' them. There's no sense in trying to define the word 'blob'.

So good intel is needed on the enemies fleet before engaging in a fight.

In order to not be labeled a 'blobby' entitiy, you can only have so many corp members in corp, and if you run into a small fleet you must not crush them, but give them a chance in order not to be considered a 'blobby' entity.

There fore an FC has to be taken seriously on comms saying 'We are not going to take our awesome fleet of 15 prots against their 5 drakes because we are not a blobby entity"

Uh.. duh?

Assuming 60% alts that's still 100 real people...
