A decade ago it was ground breaking research, but today it is established and oft repeated study.

Get half-a-dozen to a dozen primates (lemurs, monkeys, apes (of which humans are one of the 4 major genus)) and put them into cages where they can see each other. Feed them a diet of nutritious, but bland food for a couple weeks. Then give then cucumbers for a couple weeks. They are VERY happy to get cucumbers and they beg for more. Then, switch to grapes. They really love the grapes, and really beg for more. Switch them back to cucumbers. Meh. They eat the cucumbers, but they are not super happy and begging for more cucumbers. NOW, switch half to grapes and leave half on cucumbers.

The half on cucumbers throw a fit. They misbehave, scream, throw them selves about their cages... they refuse to eat the cucumbers, throwing the cucumbers back at the care givers.

Meanwhile, those getting grapes somehow feel entitled to their grapes. When the cucumber primates beg the grape primates to share the grapes, they refuse. They are entitled to their grapes.

This is the perfect way to to create hate and discontent within a group of primates. Give one group something better than the rest can get.

Unintentionally, I am sure, this is EXACTLY what CCP has done with T2 BPOs.

No amount of rationalizing about how they "deserve" the grapes, or how they are not really that big of an advantage, or "give me 10 years worth of grapes, then after those 10 more years, you too can have grapes" is EVER going to convince the promates that receive cucumbers that the system is not inherently unfair.

On the flip side, no amount of reasoning from the players that do not have T2 BPOs, will ever convince the current T2 BPO holders that they are not entitled to their grapes, and everyone else can go suck cucumbers.

It will be up to CCP.

Do they, forever after, want to maintain this situation of grapes and cucumbers, or do they want to, at some point, address the situation so that everyone can have grapes... of course... eventually making grapes "not that special".

It is never going to just "go away" any more than the primates in the cages, half getting cucumbers and half getting grapes, can ever return to a place of peace co-existence for as long as the inequality persists.

Are you saying that people throw a fit because they don't have T2 BPOs?

Except that EVE is full of humans, its only the forums that suffers from excess monkeys.

I like your analogy, because when I run with it, it would appear that under CCPs model, the only thing I can do in a cage is poop, and it would appear that if i do that long enough and save enough of it, that one of the grape owners will swap me a grape for a particularly large pile of poop, leaving me with cucumbers, grape and no poop.

Let us all pray for the end of terrible long winded analogies.

I am assuming the OP has not read any of the blogs about industry changes for summer. T2 BPOs are being nerfed significantly by all accounts.

Personally I think the trend of nerfing anything people have achieved in the past to help the entitled newer players feel like they can be "elite" and "win" EVE without putting any time in, just like they did in WoW, is a bit off putting.

If you're not happy with BPO cucumbers, go find a grape in a different profession.

No one is forcing you to do industry. It's not like you're locked in a cage.

So because we can no longer get T2 bpo's because CCP looked at the bpo's lottery and went 'oops not enough getting out, lets make a new system so everyone can get a t2 bp' we should freak out because someone spent a crap load of time trying to get a bp and got lucky. Wha?

I get that the T2 bpo's is a printing press, but not really. The only real advantage you have is you can research it which saves you some on mins and then you don;t need to pay for invention, when saves you money. but tbh, someone with smarts can make just as much as most bpo' owners. or a bit less. I really don;t have an issue with t2 bpo's, the owners can keep them. There are other more important issues to fix.

Funny how some of us who started playing after the lottery still managed to get hold of T2 BPOs.

You carry on flinging your fruit about while us advanced primates squable over bacon :)

Some other people have some things that we don't. Couldn't the same thing be said about SP or ISK or special edition ships.. lots of examples come to mind.

It should stop anyone from enjoying the game. The advantage is negligible. The player behind the pilot makes more of a difference, here.

After having thought about this further, I've come to a conclusion.

Some people want equality of outcome, not equality of opportunity. Typically those people are have-nots and bads.

That is all.

Humans are not one of the "4 major genera of apes".
Genus homo is one of 4 genera of Hominidae which is a taxonomic family of primates (and yes, Hominidae are also known as "great apes"). The other 3 genera are genus Pan, genus Gorilla and genus Pongo, which are traditionally called "apes". Apes are all non-human hominoids .
