Hey all I just started playing this game and was wondering a few things. Did I pick the right race as Caldar if I want to eventually stop doing missions and pvp? Also what is best frigate to do this with? I hear people say rifter should I get started in training for that ship? Please let me know. Also I would like to join a noob friendly pvp corp so I can learn the ropesso please someone direct me in the right direction. Thanks all and I will see you in space :)

There are many forms of PvP.

Gangs, solos, fleet etc.

Rifters are good PvP frigates because of their speed and ability to dish out lots of damage at close range, and if you are going to PvP later, do train in a Rifter. It will serve various purposes as well as open up the path to other Minmatar ships.

The most kills on the killboard i believe are Drakes and Hurricanes, so Caldari is not bad for PvP. It really comes down to skill, fittings and teamwork. As long as you know what you are doing and what you are up against, you should be fine regardless of what ship you are flying

Love of the rifter is quickly going to get outdated, however its an excellent ship. For the caldari a great one atm is the Merlin, however that requires a bit more skill because you have to cross train guns AND rockets.

The kestrel is also a great pvp frig but is more suited for group pvp (not enough tackle).

Last, the Hookbill is fantastic for both pve and pvp with a slightly higher pricetag. A well fit frig costs about 6 -9mil whereas the hookbill will run you about 30. These are rough estimates of course but meh. In any case, find a ship you like to get in while relevent skills are training, you get to be a little loose with frig training and can get away with it.

I has all the eve inactivity

I started Minmatar and liked the Rifter, however, it is really quick to get any race frigate to lvl3 so i thought i would try some others. Amarr i didn't like, Gallente i love. I didn't get as far as Caldari once i found how much i liked the drones!!!

If you can get into a destroyer then lvl1's become very easy. My Catalyst (Gallente) flies through missions.

To try different races you will need to get a couple of support skills to 1 as well, but its quick to do. This is my experience, hope this helps.

EDIT---- dont forget to use Battleclinic to find useful builds, to use and to aim for.

Ship choice will really come down to preference, but it is hard to go wrong with a Rifter, even cross training from Caldari.

For a corp, I'll highly recommend RvB. I've flown with those guys on an alt, and had a great time learning the pvp ropes. They're more than helpful in building good ship fits, no matter what you fly.

Have fun, and fly safe!

How do I contact RvB and who do I contact? Thanks for all the replies:)

Send an application to Red Federation or Blue Republic and you will be accepted whenever there is someone to accept your application, you don't need to contact anyone.

Work on getting into a destroyer for your L1 missions.

Practice with all the frigates.

Rifter is good but it is not the only game in town.
Any tier 3 frigate should be good/decent for dps.
Tier 2 firgates for ew/tackle.

Choose your frigate based on what you want to train for later.
(( Example: No reason to get train a rifter early if your goal is a drone ship ))

1) For Missions you can use anything ... except for a rookie ship ... they'll just take longer in one of the crappier frigates.

2) For Missions - you should get into a destroyer as for missions - Destroyers > Frigates.

3) Note that for some of the "skills" you train - there is a convergence between PVE and PVP ... however ... don't for one second thing that the experience you get from PVE is really going to do you a lot of good in PVP. Bashing stupid NPC's is nothing like fighting another human that is as smart and eager to avoid being killed as you are.

4) RvB - consists of Two Separate Corporations which are in a permanent state of war with each other - providing their members with easy access to PVP. What you do - is apply to the one you want to join, then go PVP with them. They will be your friends - the other will be your enemies (mostly).

To apply - go to your People and Places - then look under Corporation - entering Red Federation or Blue Republic. You will get a list of corporations that have those names in them. Do a show info on them, read their corporate descriptions and then select the apply button. Hope I didn't screw that up to badly as I'm doing it from memory ... not having bothered to update the game on my systems yet ... still off playing Planetside and waiting for the dust to settle ...

In any case check out this link for better information:

Caldari have some respectable Combat ships:

The Kestrel is fantastic if you want a pure missile ship.
The Merlin is nice although it needs some more training (Hybrids + Rockets) - but it's damn nasty tank as well as decent dps.
