Drops in FPS with a 5870

Hey im just sitting in a station, my PC just booted up so its nice and fresh and the only program open at the moment is eve and google chrome.

When im spinning my ship at max graphics at 1920x1200 every so often i get a big drop on frames for half a second around 20 - 30 drop but when its not dropping i can keep spinning with max FPS until another drop happens.

my specs are 3.6 1100t (6 core)
4gb DDR3
with the 5870 1GB
Windows 7 64 bit

edit 1:
hmmm even without spinning and every single possible ingame thing that can be minimized minimized i still can get fps drops :s

even on the lowest graphics without moving :S

Whats your hard drive?

It appears that eve likes to access your hdd for just about everything it does instead of fully utilizing ram. So the slower the drive the more you get the dips in fps for almost every action.

I hear that solid state drives practically erase fps dips as eve can access information very fast.

Ramdisk is also an option but complicated and ram dependant.

main drive is a vertex 2 ssd, then there are 3 WD greens 7200 1tb which is were is is located on, but i think it might just be because im in jita or something

Was having a similar issue a few days ago in Jita. Tried tweaking everything, then realized my guests panel was open, and the game was rendering portraits for everyone who dropped in and out of station.

Try switching across to agents or offices in station panel and see what happens?

yeah it appears that the guest list is causing the lag lol, even while minimized it still does it. but when switched to agents its fine
