Behaviour is slightly different: makes a partial attempt to load the UI before hanging for a while and then crashing, rather than crashing immediately.

First attempt, audio on: loaded the windows (including populating people in local), overview outline, space view black, speed dial frozen at ~90% as ship started emergency warp (heard at least some of "warp drive active"). Hung there with black screen for ~10 seconds, then crashed.

2nd attempt, audio off: black screen (no windows), ~10 seconds, crash.

Aren't Caldari supposed to have a large signature?

After patching to 1.4 last night my launcher freezes and I cannot log in. I have tried both the fixes mentioned Here:

https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=316715&find=unread

But the launcher still freezes and I have to close it via Force Quit.

I am having the same problem.

My Vexor is just sitting out there. This is terrible.

Mac OS 10.7.5(2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Xeon, 12gb, ATI Radeon HD 5770)

Was working , after patches applied, it's dead in the launcher or otherwise.

Will you guys fix this please and refund us ships and equipment or give us ISK if we lose ships, clones, pods?

This is NOT our fault!

Oh, One additional thing, I froze up when I undocked. Before that time I was happily fitting my ship. Undocked, now it's frozen and all I hear is sound, but I have no control and no ship graphic. I did before 1.4. =(

The new patch this morning (4-29) does not fix the issue. Still crashes. All 3 of my alts are in space so I cannot play any of them, meanwhile my training queues are emptying out. How hard is it to fix a 100% repeatable problem specific to 10.7.5?

We are working on this, on it does seem to be specific to Mac OS 10.7.5 with an AMD video card.

We do have an inhouse repro for once, but since this only manifests on this very specific setup it might take a while to find a good workaround.

We're doing our best to find a fix as soon as possible, but if you can upgrade your Mac OS please do.

I fixed my issues by re-downloading a fresh client….only took about 3 hours.

Sad that this is pretty much standard procedure for us Mac users.

Hi,

i have done a complete uninstall of eve, downloaded the client last nigth, fresh install.

i got the patch from today, can get into station but if i undock the games hangs on 10.7.5.

my laptop with 10.9.2 is working.

i cannot upgrade to 10.9.2 because my hardware is not supported because of the 32 bit uefi.

Edit:

Disabling audio didnt change anything

Edit 2:

Yes 10.7.5 here too.
My HS character was able to undock right after the patch, then the lights went out so to speak, it froze before HUD and all things in space came up on screen.
Now when I try to log on it stays black, and then the same "Exception raised" message.
clearing cache, etc has not helped.

What is curious is that my wormhole character loads just fine.
So I'm not sure thats its an audio thing, but a station thing, or whatever else might differentiate wh from HS

I had the same issue, i also live in a WH and the issue did not arise until i tried to go through to a NS connection. I have one character that is still in a hole and has no problems either. Seems to just be isolated to k-space.

Is this occurring on OSX 10.8.X?

I can NOT upgrade to Mavericks without having to invest in new hardware for an audio studio, but I can probably upgrade to mountain Lion.

The only repro we have in-house is on the 10.7.5. We have tried on 10.8 without seeing the issue.

i just wanted to share upgrading to 10.9.2 fixed the problem with my undock and i retrieved my vessel.

2011 Mac Book Pro

8g Ram

2.2 I7 Quad Core

AMD Radeon 6750 (1gig VRAM)

thus far the performance is at least as good as what i had in 10.7.5

on a side note, i hate the label change in the Finder of Mavericks, but i guess i will have to get use to it.

Thank you thus far for getting a patch out and best of luck to my fellow Mac Pilots out there.

I hope CCP is considerate of the fact that many Mac Pro users are restricted to 10.7.5 since they are using older models. These models can use modern video cards, but due to firmware restrictions are limited to 10.7.5.

So please CCP, try to fix the 10.7.5 bug if you possibly can.

Update

I noticed that the vast majority of us were running 10.7.5, so I updated to mavericks and now the freeze has gone and EVE works normally.

Not for one minute saying that this will fix everyone's undock/freeze issue, but it foxed mine.

Unfortunately for any of us running older Macs that can't upgrade to 10.9 we're stuck. I have a 10.9 instance on my work laptop. The fact this is affecting multiple platforms (PC's too), simply asking people to upgrade is not good enough. The team broke something massive (where's the testing and QA prior to a patch?) and it needs to be regressed and the commit pulled until they figure it out.

If the team does not have a rollback procedure for features, then that is an issue about their dev practices. Having said all that, the problem needs remediation, you shouldn't have to upgrade for a problem caused by a patch. AND if you did need an upgrade, they should have told their paying customers that was the case, so they could decide what to do.

Let's see, get a new Mac or Play Eve? Yeah, when you have someone whose bought a lot of Plex, you probably do not want to leave that money on the table never to return again.

There are several possible solutions for those of you who are experimental and do not want to wait:

http://www.jabbawok.net/?p=47

Is one.

Look for : 10.8 upgrade for mac pro 1,1
-or-
10.9 upgrade for mac pro 1,1

Hope this still some of our eager hearts.

If you're running ProTools or any of that other Didigidesign 'locked in"-ware, I would NOT advise upgrading at all with a working setup.

Not to mention this comes right under fanfest, if you couldnt come to the fanfest, and now your locked into the stations by this bug. It is not going to be a fun few days even with the stream. Thankfully my PC server can run the client enough that I managed to dock my chars, but it is only useful for emergency operations like that, for full gaming I need my mac.

Ok, so 10.8 works, GREAT! - That doesn't help, since "we" (all of us) cannot upgrade to 10.8. So you'll have to:
1. Understand the root cause of the 10.7.5 failure
2. Since PC's are experiencing this thing too, it must be an assumption about a config "oh, everyone by now is running 64-bit, nobody is running 32bit GPU/CPU"
3. Add 32 bit configurations to your test suite
4. Do the requisite diff for the changes.
5. That patch was HUGE. It's better practice to do a bunch of small incremental changes instead of one big dump.
6. You'll have more control when you slowly roll features out in small and predictable patches rather than one in the large where there could be a multiplier of culprits
7. Add features that are considered the lowest common denominator. Those who have the highest will see the most benefit, those with the lowest get to have at least competitive play if not the prettiest and most optimized.

Yes, I'm a test engineer. Best practices cure problems.

Good luck to us all!
