Hey guys, I'm having a problem in fleet and I'm not sure what to do about it.

To start I'm a pretty new player so I'm not sure if what I'm doing is something I'm doing wrong or what.

While in fleet with my Corp, I'm having a problem understanding the orders the FC is giving. While in transit I have fell behind because the FC called the next jump and here I am looking at my overview trying to figure out exactly what system he called. By the time I figure out that the system I'm looking for doesn't exist and that I misunderstood the FC, they are two or three jumps ahead of me.

Obviously everyone else in the fleet has no problem with this because they keep up just fine. I'm using a Turtle Beach X21 headset so a quality headset isn't an issue.

Thanks for any advice :)

usually when new guys plays eve his focus is on how to fly ship and how to press right buttons etc, so most of this time goes to figure out how to do things.

Older players have routines how to do things so they can focus more other things than just how to control ship.

Other thing can be that FC is from other culture and his talk is not clear for all, and needs more focusing.

together these two things can be too much new player to follow up. I bet that after week or two things will be much better for you when you get used to things.

Don't worry, it can happen to all new players. More so if you and/or the FC are not native english speakers.

Also, people often use abbreviations for system names (e.g. Vlill instead of Vlillirier), you'll get used to them quickly.

If you have trouble quickly finding systems, you may:

1) make a 'travel' tab on your overview, showing just stargates

2) right-click in space --> select stargates --> select the right one --> align or warp (never jump! unless the fc says to)

You could also speak personally to the fc after the fleet op is over, tell him you're new, ask him for advice.

Happy fleet blapping!

Also look at fleet broadcasts ( https://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Fleet_options#Broadcast_system )
For longer trips, the FC should link the destination system.
If you just hop into the system next door because you are chasing someone he might not do that, although even then it can prevent miscommunication.

People pronounce gates different sometimes, but once you get used to the 'neighborhood' you start to know what they mean. You can also just watch the fleet and see where they aim off to, in space.

Some corps have a designated 'broadcaster' to highlight stuff on overview. Sometimes the broadcast is in the fleet window, and not on overview.

Ask another pilot to teach you how to set up your windows, and what to watch for. You'll find many pilots that love to be helpful
If you learn fast
If you help the fleet
If you don't ask toooo many questions a day :P
