Autopilot and market tool integration

It might be a good, and simple to implement, idea if we tie the autopilot setting and how many jumps to a location of an item for sale in the Market tool.

As was explained to me by CCP:

"Autopilot settings, and how many jumps it is to the location of an item for sale are not tied together at this time."

You can try this and see the issue. Here is what I've done:

My settings are for "Prefer Safe". That means if possible stick to HiSec.

This has happened to me in other systems, but the example I have is based out of Purjola.

I open the Regional Market tool to find an item to purchase.

I selected the skillbook Shield Management.

It shows me the following:

- 4 jumps at Tasti V - Moon 1 - this being a lowsec I ignore
- 5 Jumps at Korsiki II - Moon 7 - this is the closest showing hisec
- .....

When I select Korsiki on autopilot, it shows 10 jumps. I understand that going through lowsec it would be 5 jumps but if I'm set for hisec the autopilot for the market should be considering this setting and not the fatsest route to a station.

Cheers!

I would like to see this - but I suspect it would probably take more dev time than it is worth at present.

For posting an idea into F&I: come up with idea, try and think how people could abuse this, try to fix your idea - loop the process until you can't see how it could be abused, then post to the forums to let us figure out how to abuse it..... If your idea can be abused, it WILL be.

In general I'm against autopilot and would vote to remove it from the game.

that would require almost everyone to own a copy of EVE-maps, dotlan or some such other. I don't think that's really feasible

let's sas you want to get to jita 4-4 from dodixie.
you use in game search to locate jita 4-4 and open show info button.

then set as destination.
now manually hit jump through gate on each step of the way.

faster, safer.

explain?

what good about auto pilot?
people using it tend to afk and get killed, it warp you 15km off gate with all modules un-active and will get you killed. many times it bugs out and you just stuck there 10 km from the gate floating doing nothing.

compare it to manual jumping in which you jump 0 on the gate and warp to new system instantly.

and as I've said just set destination and next place you need to jump to is marked on overview, you can even customize the way-points (high\low sec, pod killed etc...)

im going to guess u dnt fly a freighter much,
and im going to guess u dnt realise 20 jumps can take an hours manual flying in a freighter or that most trips in a freighter are to its destination and then back again. Then i hope u understand, 20 jumps is not that far.

u really going to force someone through that?

as u said, autopiloting has its disadvantages. no need to remove it.

No I don't fly a freighter I use red frog for that, honest service which save me the trouble.

OTOH if you fly something expensive as a freighter while using Autopilot I guess you either AFK or fly blind without scouting first or at least check your waypoints for recent kills before you travel, if that is the case then go ahead use quick travel :P
