That is the bottom line. People who leave to go play with their wind-up toy robots should never be allowed to return to EVE-Online.

Loyalty!

That my friends is what separates the men from the rest of the rabble. Faithfulness to the community and to the idea that is EVE-Online. It is about not abandoning your friends because times get a little tough.

I refuse to just watch as those less worthy of this game jump ship and think it is OK to come back when the choppy waters have passed. These are not the players our spaceship game needs. We need real people with real values. I want to be surrounded by those who think and believe like that. In many ways, this game has changed my life for the better. I have never lost faith in you CCP. You will always have by far the best community any gaming company could ever hope for. I will always be loyal to you and the idea that is CCP and EVE-Online. Do not allow those who jump ship be welcomed back. We do not need, or want them to taint this game again.

The maturity to make sound choices is what what separates the men from the rabble (to use the OP terminology, though it's a bit silly to begin with), not headless chickens too scared to make a decision that is right for them.

If someone isn't enjoying the game, they don't need to look after my interests and keep subbing just because of a notion of loyalty.

On the contrary, I think its quite important to have frequent discussions about which type of people we should allow to exist within the EVE Community.

Some set the bar at ISK doubling and sing-a-longs in Teamspeak.
Others set it at those who tend towards racist ideologies.
Still others feel that those who whistleblow corruption within CCP should be expunged.

I set it here.

Sometimes you just have to plant your flag show people where you stand.

There are those who believe...that life here began out there, far across the Universe...with tribes of humans...who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians...or the Toltecs...or the Mayans.

Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man...who even now fight to survive—somewhere beyond the heavens!

Perhaps to build a better community we need to enforce at least some kind of minimum standard on that small percent that choose to participate through other channels such as the forums.

Actually logging into the game and setting up an avatar is probably a good, very very very bare minimum barrier of entry.

Also, is it just me or are the forums even sillier than usual?

I have no idea why they still allow any of your accounts to post on the forum. I would've banned you and your sockpuppets from ever posting here 12 hours ago.

"sillier" really isn't the word that describes what's going on.

To build a better community,
we have to get rid of the old one first.

Because the old one isn't actually one anyway.

Personal opinion here. No offence intended.

a) You can never know the reasons for someone to stop playing for a while. And they have no obligation to give you a reason.
b) If a GAME (cause that's what eve is after all ) no longer feels entertaining, or constructing it's ok to take a break. The way you say things here, we should never have quit games we played 15 years ago, to prevent ppl in those communities get depressed?
c) Again no offence intended. You say the game changed your life. Good for you. But still i prefer to find ppl with values etc in my RL and not allow a game to have any influence in my rl, except maybe spend a couple of hours a day for it. If it happens to meet these kind of ppl in game, well that is a good thing. But after all its internet. Be prepared to meet ANYTHING and any kind of ppl.
d) Jump ship? OK, since eve community is a real dynamic community , this means it's changing again and again over time. Just like real life. So just like you choose friends in your life and cut off with others, you can do the same here.
e) Final point. some ppl invest too much in eve. Some less. You, or anyone, cannot dictate them. Live with that.
