Every time we get an interesting convo going, locked.

When more than half (of the non-sticky) of the threads on the first page of GD are locked, I'd call that aggressive moderation.

Rule #1 of EVE forums: Only post opinions that CCP likes. If you have an unpopular opinion, and post it, the thread will be locked as duplicate, off topic, rant or any other stretch of logic needed to justify closing the thread....

And, of course, this one is doomed to the "no commenting on moderation policy" policy.

We can't even comment on not being able to make comments that CCP doesn't like, because CCP doesn't like that.

It seems more aggressive on weekends. Like they're mad they have to be sitting here "moderating the forums" when instead of sitting at their computers, they could be sitting on the couch watching TV.

If people would stop making dumb threads, ISD wouldn't have to lock them

It really is one of the most annoying things on the forums. Some thread shouldn't be locked when they are. Whats the point in having an open forum which basically censors anything even remotely controversial because its "possible trolling".

The Dust forums are great., The people are actually funny and every topic isn't auto locked because of people getting butthurt and crying to a mod. This is general discussion. Nothing is really off topic, I don't even get why there are mods in this sub-forum. Because people get their feelings hurt? HTFU.

You really think someone would do that? Just log into EvE and tell lies?

Seems quite appropriate when you consider the content of the threads.

It's all a matter of tone. There are plenty of threads that present such opinions — they just do it in a way that doesn't break any rules.

That rather hinges on the notion that you can't make comments they don't like, which you obviously can. If you couldn't, they'd just start throwing out the more chronic complainers and nuke any post they ever make. Instead, they let them stick around as long as they can articulate their complaints in a proper manner.

Supply and demand. with a twist.

The greater the supply of bad threads, the greater demand for locks.

I think threads should be allowed to live on their own.
If people feed them, they grow, if they are so bad then nobody posts and they go away.

Agreed, like the post about smuggling goods into Iceland for fan fest.

Meanwhile, I thought the "EVE mindset" thread was quite interesting, but locked.

I agree with this, except I believe the line should be drawn when the conversation devolves into people leveraging personal attacks and insults at others. Once it reaches the point where people who say "nerfing high sec is a good thing" start flaming people for presenting differing opinions, those posts need to be deleted and the posters need to be immediately warned, and then timed out from posting if they're not able to conduct themselves in a respectful, courteous manner.

If there are so many cloaky posts one would think that a large group of people dont like it, and that actio n should be taken. Yet democracy and free speech is an ideal not the rule to CCP

Works both ways: if there are so many threads about it and it hasn't changed, it suggest something about what CCP thinks of the “problem”. Blink

Don't discuss moderation, it's against the rules.

If you have comments or complaints regarding moderation, file a support ticket under the correct category and the community team will look at the issue for you.
