Guristas Lowsec DED Sites/Unrateds?

Hey all, I'm still a bit new to EVE and we live in guristas low so I'm trying to take advantage of all the DED sites that spawn. I'm looking for a ship that can do 4/10s+ (My hawk can handle anything else) that isn't a Tengu, Ishtar, Cerberus, etc yet(tm) because I haven't finished any cruiser to 5 yet. Soon(tm)

HAM Drake will handle the 4/10 with no problems. Might even be doable in a Caracal.

Maybe something that isn't so vulnerable as a Drake, as it slow and bulky?

Well I'm training into something bigger and don't get me wrong, I don't want to break the bank, but drake just seems too niche.

Maybe Gila or Navy Vexor?

You seem to be suggesting drone-based ships so I assume you're eventually going to train up to an Ishtar as that is by far the best option for these sites which is drone-based. Tengu and Cerberus are very good as well and definitely good options but they are missile based. So which of these paths you take will determine the ship you use now as well.

If you're going for missiles, you can use the Caracal Navy issue to do 4/10s however it will struggle to do either 5 or 6/10s, for those the Drake (and possibly Cyclone) is the only real missile option that isn't a HAC/T3/Battleship/Command Ship to do 5-6/10s. I'd go for a fit like this for 4/10 while you train for Cerb/Tengu:

If you're planning on going drones, then firstly you need to get T2 sentries asap which are pretty much the only way to go for PvE with drones. Gila with faction sentries used to be a decent stopgap ship while you trained for an Ishtar, however soon it will be pigeonholed into medium drones and despite the massive dps it can get from them, combat drones are just not useable in 5-6/10s due to drone aggro as well as loss of dps from drone travel time. So you're left with the Navy Vexor for the time being, probably go for something like this:

However once again this will struggle in 5 and 6/10s, however this may actually be able to do them compared to the Navy Caracal because your drones will take alot of aggro when using a droneboat so you can pull drones in and out while having your ship tank less, but it will still be tough.

When you're going intoa complex, it doesn't matter wether you sit in there in a condor or a freighter. Any case, you'll see him entering the plex a minute or three prior to him landing next to you. You should really focus on getting the plex done and worry less about anyone ganking you.

Getting caught inside a plex against your will is really hard or embarassing.

Drake is perfect for these sites and also for wormhole diving. Does them as well as the gila /carcal navy whilst being fully insurable. Tengu /ishtar is ofc better but the tank bonus on the drake and T2 heavy missiles (for range and precision for frig) makes it a great platform for ratting.
I used to use them a ton in low sec and wh space until i skilled up. (to the tengu as i now live in gurista null)

I started with the Gila then moved on to the Ishtar for Guris Plexes.

The Enyo/Ishkur are capable of doing them but the isk/hour is very low.
